Metaphor: ReFantazio – Devourer Of Nations Boss Guide

As a seasoned gamer with over three decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the final month of Metaphor: ReFantazio is shaping up to be a thrilling journey for players, especially when it comes to battling the formidable dragons. Among these majestic beasts, the Devourer of Nations stands out as the first challenge, and I must admit, it’s a beast indeed!

In the last month of the game called “Metaphor: ReFantazio,” players have an opportunity to encounter formidable optional enemies during the Trials of the Dragon. There are a total of three dragons scattered throughout the game that can be defeated, and a super boss awaits at the end, but before the final day in the game.

Among the three dragons you’ll encounter, tackle the Devourer of Nations initially since it lacks any notable special tricks, making it exceptionally challenging to defeat. Here follows the optimal team for battling the Devourer of Nations, along with tips on how to emerge victorious:

How To Prepare For Devourer Of Nations In Metaphor: ReFantazio

  • Protagonist – Prince
  • Junah – Royal Masked Dancer
  • Eupha – Royal Summoner
  • Basilio – Royal Berserker
  • Boss Level – 70

For optimal results when fighting this boss, it’s advisable to acquire the Royal Archetypes of your team members first, as the battle will be quite challenging. Essential abilities for this fight include Dekaja, Dekunda, Makarakarn, and Tetrakarn. If you possess any fire-resistant or repelling clothing, ensure you wear it during the encounter. It might also prove beneficial to bring Redgrass-Roasted Bidou, coupled with Ren Patra and a team-wide healing spell. Given the strength of certain Archetypes, it’s crucial to have a method to weaken the enemy’s attack and defense, which can be achieved through Summon Dragon God (modified) or Peerless War Cry/War Cry.

How To Beat Devourer Of Nations In Metaphor: ReFantazio

This boss repels fire but has no other elemental affinities.

This boss might not possess the flashy moves of the other two dragons, but it will still employ “Great Dragon’s Wrath” every turn to boost its attack by two stages. Frequently, it uses this ability twice for maximum impact. If you’re on hard mode, it has four Press Turn icons, and it might use individual or widespread fire attacks, in addition to a few physical attacks. In this battle, Makarakarn and Tetrakarn will be your key to success.

Aim to keep one of each spell active on your less powerful party members, hoping that when the boss encounters a “repel” spell, it loses its entire turn. This means you’ll be anticipating those all-encompassing attacks. While this largely depends on luck, use Dekaja every turn to counteract its enhanced attack and force it to spend an additional two turns restoring that buff. Besides that, you should have Junah cast Hellfire Dance regularly, which will override the boss’s “repel” fire, making it vulnerable for one attack.

Summoning the modified Dragon God not only strikes the boss’ vulnerability, but also weakens its defense and offense. Even if Dekunda is used next turn to reverse your debuffs, this action will consume one of the boss’ turns without dealing damage to you. Basilio and the Prince will primarily handle damage output; the Prince will repeatedly use Royal Sword when possible, especially with a Utilitarian’s Manual available. Use Hero’s Cry sparingly as it can heal the entire party in challenging situations where everyone is brought down.
