As I delve deeper into this grand tale of Strohl, it’s hard not to be captivated by their journey. From humble beginnings to standing at the entrance of the central market, nearest to the Grand Regalith Cathedral, they’ve navigated obstacles that would have toppled lesser souls.
Just like in earlier ATLUS games where you could build and enhance relationships with characters, Metaphor: ReFantazio offers a comparable system. This system, it’s worth noting, no longer includes the dating aspect, but it does preserve the benefits and distinctive storylines that come from cultivating friendships.
In this game, we have the Bond system. Each time a character unlocks a fresh Archetype Tree, they’ll have a captivating narrative that you’d be eager to follow through to its conclusion.
As I embark on this gaming journey, I’m sure you’re curious about the challenges that lie ahead. To help clarify things, let me share my experience playing as Strohl, who will be our focus for today.
Warning: We’re about to disclose significant story developments concerning this specific character. If you prefer to uncover these details yourself, it might be wise to leave the room or change the subject.

As a dedicated fan, I’d say I identify strongly with Strohl’s innate sense of fairness. Whenever I see someone being unfairly treated, regardless of the situation or form it takes, you can count on Strohl to stand up for them and fight for what’s right.
Born and bred in the shattered remnants of Halia, I find myself cast as a disheartened soul, yearning to restore my family’s once-proud reputation. As the Noble, I’m determined to show the world that we’re not just a bunch of washed-up misfits.
Initially, we encounter Strohl at The Recruitment Center in Grand Trad. Our mission there involves us setting off together towards the ominous Northern Border Fort, where we’ll confront a formidable human adversary.
Here, you’ll encounter Grius, and soon after, you’ll come across Strohl. In an interaction with Captain Klinger at the Nord Mines, Strohl uncovers his noble traits and embodies the Warrior Archetype.
After that point, the character can progressively strengthen their connection with Strohl while pursuing his inheritance and uncovering the real motives behind his parents’ actions on the day Halia tumbled, which was a significant event.
Shrohl’s Bond Ranks Explained
To progress with every Bond character in the Metaphor ReFantazio game, players must move through eight levels or stages to strengthen their connection with Strohl.

According to what was stated earlier, the first instance of Strohl’s Bond Rank will activate when the player encounters Captain Klinger within the Nord Mines.

Once you conquer the initial significant dungeon in the game, you can advance Strohl’s storyline. In this specific stage of the plot, you will encounter a previous inhabitant of Halia who relocated to Grand Trad following the destruction of Strohl’s hometown.
This demonstrates the hardships faced by the previous inhabitants of Halia as they strive to reconstruct their lives following the Human assault. Strohl appeals for your assistance in discovering a solution for these displaced individuals, who have relocated from Halia to Grand Trad.

In the forthcoming chapter of Strohl’s narrative, Strohl humbly requests that Lord Hydran grant his empty homes to the displaced inhabitants of Halia, who have become homeless following the demolition of their village.
Hydran advises Strohl to restore the dignity of his family estate before tending to the masses, and makes clear that he won’t offer any financial aid. Upon learning this from Strohl, Rangif expresses surprise about the inheritance Strohl had previously been unaware of.

Strohl ponders going back to his devastated hometown, and it’s only natural that the player decides to tag along with him.

In our conversation, it’s clear that Shrohl takes control of the Gauntlet Runner, and you accompany him on a journey towards Halia. During this trip, you have the opportunity to witness up close the devastation wrought by the Human who had previously razed the town.
While on a visit, Strohl stumbles upon a letter in his father’s study that miraculously survived the fire. The letter suggests there might be an inheritance due to Strohl.
It appears there’s no straightforward evidence showing where the inheritance was distributed or who manages its distribution. Therefore, you and Strohl will have to find it, and a Fishmonger in Grand Trad might hold the key information.
This begins the quest ‘A Noble’s Legacy’, which must be completed to continue this Bond.

Must complete ‘A Noble Legacy’ |
Completing the sixth rank in Strohl’s Bond will present a significant challenge for you, as it requires that you finish the task known as ‘A Noble’s Legacy’ first.
You’ll be heading over to Grand Trad to find a Fishmonger who might have information regarding Strohl’s inheritance.
Here are the steps needed to complete this request:
- Head to Grand Trad during the day and find the Fishmonger, they are located along the street with market stalls directly opposite the Recruitment Center.
- After talking to them, locate the Noble they mention in the area. They are stood at the entrance to the central market nearest to the Grand Regalith Cathedral.
- Pass a 3+ Imagination skill check to convince them that you know the fishmonger.
- Return to Strohl with the information you’ve gathered.
Following this, you’ll have the opportunity to converse with the noble about the inheritance matters, including the optimal strategy for its claim. He’ll share that reaching out to Lord Hydran is crucial if you wish to secure your inheritance.
Rank Seven
Location | Grand Trad |
---|---|
Perks/Abilities | Warrior Archetype: Elite – The Party can now study the Samurai Archetype |
Checks/Requirements | Complete the Charadruis Skyrunner Operation |
Towards the near conclusion of Strohl’s Bond, you and Strohl will have an audience granted by Lord Hydran. He proposes to gift Strohl a new estate along with its current inhabitants, but this proposal is met with disapproval by Strohl, as he refuses to evict the existing residents who once served his household.
Rather than doing so, he proposes an alternative deal where he aims to acquire a hundred properties in Grand Trad at a significantly reduced price. He intends to leverage your prestigious position as a front-runner for the throne as a negotiating tactic.
Ultimately, Hydran is left with no option but to agree, while in the end, Strohl generously contributes his inheritance towards building homes for the ex-residents of Halia within Grand Trad, thereby ensuring they have permanent housing and are freed from homelessness forever.
Rank Eight

In this finale, Strohl’s narrative reaches its end as you join them for a last trip to Halia, discussing the inheritance, the choice to resettle Halia’s original inhabitants in Grand Trad, and the genuine motives behind Strohl’s parents’ actions.
Strohl understands that he isn’t a source of disappointment for his parents; instead, they see him as the one who will carry on the family legacy.
With this understanding, he promises to persist in his mission to restore Halia and pay tribute to his parents in whatever manner possible.
