Metaphor: ReFantazio – The Best Early Side Quests

Metaphor: ReFantazio - The Best Early Side Quests

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent traversing the digital landscapes of various fantasy realms, I must say that the quests outlined in this text are reminiscent of some epic adventures I’ve embarked upon myself. The first one, Maneater Manjula, seems like a formidable foe, but if I’ve learned anything from my gaming days, it’s that a well-timed ice spell can make even the most fearsome beasts tremble. And let’s not forget about the sweet rewards – an increase in Courage and a cool $10,000!

The gaming duration of “Metaphor: ReFantazio” will enchant some role-playing game enthusiasts while frustrating others. For those unfamiliar with the “Persona” series, they might spend upwards of a hundred hours immersed in the game. These role-playing games can be challenging to finish quickly, but that’s exactly why fans are so drawn to them.

In comparison to the challenging game “Persona,” “ReFantazio” is relatively shorter but by no means brief. Despite its brevity compared to “Persona,” which players can usually complete in approximately 60 hours, “ReFantazio” still offers a host of side quests to explore. Here are a few engaging side quests you might encounter during the initial stages of gameplay.

6 Pagan’s Dilemma

Give A Mustari Man Some Fresh Air

  • Rewards: Squire’s Bracelet, Increase Tolerance
  • Location: Grand Trad

The Pagan’s Dilemma side quest should be one of the initial tasks players undertake. You’ll find a resident of Grand Trad, named Mustari Man, stationed nearby the Hushed Honeybee. He requests players to fetch him a Breath of Fresh Air from the St. Fermis Church situated just down the road.

In this straightforward mission, players will be granted an enhancement to their Endurance points, one of the five Noble Traits in the game that can open up additional side missions and rewards. Additionally, they’ll receive a Worn Artifact, which can be evaluated at Refantazio-style shops to secure the Squire’s Bracelet accessory. This item will boost your Strength by 3 when worn.

5 Help the Hushed Honeybee

Help Fabienne Cook At Night

  • Rewards: 3 Magla Pills, Increase Wisdom, and $2,000
  • Location: Grand Trad

In Grand Trad, there’s a straightforward side mission titled “Ease the Burden of the Harried Honeybee.” A young man from the Nidia tribe, distressed by Fabienne, the innkeeper seeming overworked, requests assistance. This Non-Player Character (NPC) aims to have players aid Fabienne in preparing dinner at night. This task serves as an easy entry point to learn about the cooking mechanic in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

For this side mission, there’s an additional perk to your Tolerance points. Interestingly, completing tasks for Fabienne will not only boost your Tolerance levels but also grant you double the rewards. And let me tell you, the 3 Magla Pills aren’t just any ordinary reward; they are particularly valuable as they are scarce items in the game that restore MP.

4 More’s Task: Foreword and Prologue

Unlock Portable Archetypes

  • Reward: 3 Hero’s Incense, Increase Imagination, Linked Igniter, and Increase More’s Bond
  • Location: Akademeia

In the realm known as Akademeia, there lives an entity named More, who serves as a guide to Will, our protagonist in the story “Metaphor: ReFantazio”. He assists Will in realizing and comprehending his Archetype. The system of More is similar to the Social Links system found in other Persona games, where relationships are developed and strengthened.

To strengthen their connection, players need to advance specific character types (or Archetypes) to particular stages. For instance, More’s Task begins with the Foreword and Prologue, and the objective is to elevate the Healer Archetype to level ten. The primary incentive for this achievement is the Linked Igniter, which enables players to switch between Archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio without returning to Akademeia each time.

3 Maneater Manjula, Fiend of the Wastes

A Good Opportunity To Grow Courage

  • Rewards: Increase Courage and $10,000
  • Location: Tradia Desert

As a gamer, I can embark on quests in towns to track and vanquish ferocious beasts lurking in the wilderness. In the captivating world of Metaphor: ReFantazio, one of my initial missions is called “Maneater Manjula, Fiend of the Wastes.” During this quest, I’ll have to engage and defeat a fearsome creature known as Maneater Manjula. This formidable foe resides in the vast expanse of the Tradia Desert, an area I traversed after escaping from the menacing bandits at the start of my journey.

Manjula the Maneater may seem formidable, but by having all three teammates cast the icy spell called Blizz, players will encounter no difficulties in overcoming her. This monster battle grants a boost to the player’s Courage Royal Virtue within the game and rewards an impressive $10,000. Be sure to watch for additional bounty missions as they become available.

2 A Bullish Embargo

How To Unlock The Merchant Archetype

  • Rewards: Pious Igniter, Increase Courage, $7,500
  • Location: Belga Corridor

To meet an essential character named Brigitta, gamers need to enforce a “Bullish Embargo” (which seems like a positive action). She’ll be hanging out by the mystical trinket store in Grand Trad. To initiate her side quest, players must increase their character’s Wisdom level to two. This can be achieved by completing other sub-quests or simply sitting on a nearby bench close to Brigitta, which increases Wisdom as well.

Excluding the matter of wisdom, Brigitta will reveal to the players the hiding place of the Belga Corridor, a labyrinth inhabited by a fearsome creature named Grotesque Guptauros in the game Metaphor: ReFantazio. Brigitta aims to slay this beast as a trial of might, and if the players succeed, she will join their party. Additionally, forming an alliance with her will introduce a new character class called Merchant.

1 A Dagger, A Ring, And A Rake

How To Unlock The Faker Archetype

  • Rewards: Grius’s Memento, Increase Courage, $15,000
  • Location: Abandoned Tomb

In the game Metaphor: ReFantazio, there’s an additional mission named “A Dagger, a Ring, and a Rake.” This side quest offers not only a new Follower but also a fresh Archetype. The story unfolds in Martira where Grius’s Memento is stolen from you. A man named Cuculus, who resides nearby, proposes to help recover it, but at a cost. He requests that you retrieve a certain relic, known as a rin, from the Abandoned Tomb dungeon for him.

When players emerge from the dungeon laden with riches and deceitful creatures known as Imitecs behind them, they’ll uncover that Cuculus’ genuine identity is Alonzo. As Alonzo develops admiration for Will, he decides to become a Follower. In turn, Alonzo grants players the Faker Archetype. Though not the strongest Archetype at first, the daggers associated with it are exciting during combat scenes and there are additional valuable rewards linked to this side quest as well.
