Metaphor: ReFantazio The Cockatrice In The Clouds Bounty Guide

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours under my belt in Metaphor: ReFantazio, I can confidently say that bounties are more than just a fun side activity – they’re a lifeline for those looking to boost their rank before the game ends. The Cockatrice In The Clouds bounty, especially, presents a formidable challenge with the Kokamordos at its heart.

In simple terms, Bounties provide an effortless method for you to accumulate Reeve points, thereby boosting your reputation within the world of Refantazio. As we approach the final month of this game, your rank might have dropped compared to its recent highs. Participating in additional tasks like newly added bounties can help you regain your former standing before the game concludes.

Although your game-ending prestige remains unaltered, it offers a rich supply of MAG, and overcoming challenging bounties rewards your party generously with XP. One of the late-game bounties that can be initiated during the last month is the “Cockatrice in the Clouds,” which pits players against the Kokamordos; here’s a guide on how to conquer it.

Preparing To Fight Kokamordos In Metaphor: ReFantazio

An absolute must for this battle is Marakukaja, which can be learned from the Magic Knight or the Commander. Make sure whoever has this skill has a large pool of MP so that they can cask the skill every three turns to keep the buff active throughout the fight. Also have a character with an Archetype from the Brawler lineage, specifically the Pugilist or Martial Artist as they each learn a pierce attack. You’ll also want an Archetype of the Mage lineage, with a priority on learning ice spells for whatever Archetype you have unlocked. This boss also has many party-wide attacks, so having a Healer lineage Archetype who can cover the entire party is a great bonus.

These abilities can also be learned by different character types via Skill Transfer, should you prefer to earn experience points specifically for a particular Archetype.

How To Beat Kokamordos In Metaphor: ReFantazio

  • Level 67
  • Weak – Ice & Pierce
  • Absorbs – Fire

During your initial move, apply Marakukaja to your team to ensure this skill’s buff persists indefinitely. It’s best to aim for a rank 3 defensive boost within the first three rounds, and maintain these enhancements rather than gradually building them over subsequent turns. The boss possesses a lethal attack called Peck of Death, which may randomly strike an ally if your enhanced defense wears off.

During the battle, you’ll encounter multiple types of attacks including an all-encompassing dark and fire attack, but if your defense is fully boosted, these attacks will be less harmful. It’s important to note that it can perform a physical attack called Hell Thrust which decreases your defense, as well as a skill that weakens both the attack and defense of one party member. While the reduced attack can often be disregarded, you should focus on restoring any party member’s defense if it gets lowered by these skills. To ensure maximum protection, use a party member with Dekunda before the one with Marakukaja to reset the defense to zero and then reapply the buff. Having a rank-three defense will also provide extra shielding against Peck Of Death.

For this battle, the character with the Brawler lineage Archetype will serve as our primary attacker, since their pierce skill not only targets weaknesses but also weakens the enemy’s defense. It would be beneficial for the party member with Ice magic to utilize it frequently, as it grants an additional Press Turn icon in addition to the one from the Pierce damage. These two characters should primarily focus on inflicting damage, while the other two team members prioritize healing and applying defensive buffs, considering these tasks equally important for maintaining both offense and defense.
