Metaphor: ReFantazio - The Fiend In The Frozen Forest Bounty Guide

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that Metaphor: ReFantazio is a game that truly understands the art of challenge and strategy. The bounties have been a thrilling test of my wits, pushing me to experiment with the combat system and the options at my disposal.

As you advance in ReFantazio, the rewards will become increasingly complex, mirroring the growth of a seasoned warrior. Whereas the early challenges primarily consist of formidable foes, later missions will introduce additional obstacles to make you innovate and explore new combat strategies using the recent additions to your arsenal.

In “The Fiend in the Frozen Forest,” players embark on a chase for the dual-bodied Icebeaast Chimenzahn as their foe. Initially appearing formidable, this boss is two enemies in one. However, with proper planning, your team can render their most potent strategy ineffective.

How To Prepare For Icebeast Chimenzahn In Metaphor: ReFantazio

  • Recommended level 52-54.
  • Recommended Archetypes: Pugilist, Berserker, Summoner, Masked Dancer.
  • Skill Inheritance: Any party-wide healing spell put on the Masked Dancer, Dekunda on anyone, along with a very weak magic spell on whoever goes last in combat.
  • Bring Mindbreak Hammer consumables.

Initially, your Pugilist will employ the Crushing Fist technique, and it’s advisable to acquire Power Thrust later on as well. Regardless, other Archetypes can be suitable at lower levels provided these prerequisites are fulfilled. Since the adversary frequently uses Makarakarn, having Mindbreak Hammer is beneficial for nullifying its impact and procuring additional press turn symbols. However, if you don’t have a Mindbreak Hammer, a relatively weak magic spell will be necessary to cast on the Icebeast; ideally, this should be done at the end of your turn to counteract Makarakarn.

Target Montarian Spear Soldier and Icebeast Chimenzahn simultaneously during your opening moves. Use fire spells on Icebeast Chimenzahn, while attacking Montarian Spear Soldier with strikes from Pugilist and Berserker. Additionally, summon an Eagle Lion to attack both enemies, reducing their offensive capabilities. Repeat this strategy twice at the start for a strong initial position.

In the upcoming rounds, prioritize defeating the Montarian Spear Soldier with Strike abilities, employing your magic casters as backup. Utilize any Mindbreak Hammers from the Masked Dancer to summon another Sumsung Eagle Lion. This spell should be your primary choice for maintaining a full debuff on the enemy’s attacks. Icebeast Chimenzahn will unleash multiple ice attacks that could exploit your vulnerabilities and potentially cause frostbite, but despite the reduced attack power, your party still has an advantage in combat.

As Montarion Spear Soldier starts to falter, he intends to forfeit his own health to mend Icebeast Chimenzahn and perish, unless you end him earlier. Without him around, Makarakarn won’t be a concern anymore, allowing you to concentrate solely on inflicting damage. In case you don’t possess any Mindbreak Hammers, utilize the feeble spell as your final action of the turn to dispel Makarakarn for good. At this juncture, opt for Power Thrust against the Pugilist to lessen the boss’ vitality, while striking its vulnerabilities with magic on every turn. The Berserker can either amplify the damage output with his strongest attacks; however, the remaining three party members should be able to handle the rest of the fight from hereon.
