Metaphor: ReFantazio: Who Should You Choose At The Bonfire

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that ReFantazio has proven to be one of the most intricate and engaging JRPGs I’ve ever played. With its wealth of items, consumables, weapons, and more, it’s a veritable treasure trove for any avid collector. However, this depth can sometimes make it challenging to optimize your setup, leaving you second-guessing your choices at every turn.

In the game “ReFantazio”, you’ll find an abundance of practical items such as consumables, equipment, weapons, and many other valuable resources.

It’s challenging to determine if your setup is fully optimized at any given moment, but that seems to be part of the appeal and intrigue of this latest JRPG.

Once you reach the Virga Islands, complete the Dragon Temple Operation, and it will offer an opportunity to acquire a weapon tailored specifically for a certain Archetype. This weapon, in essence, becomes one of the finest options available for that Archetype within the game.

However, the problem is that you can only select one. So, to give you some insight ahead of time to help you make an informed choice, here’s an explanation of what happens at the Bonfire.

When Does The Bonfire Happen?

The Bonfire festival occurs as you’re preparing to depart from the Virga Islands en route to Alterbury Heights. To attend this festivity, you must first accomplish the Dragon Temple Operation. Then, you should spend the remaining days until the deadline passes.

As the last day arrives, all significant characters convene for a festive occasion. Rest assured, there are no battles with bosses or gameplay involved – relax! However, a crucial choice awaits you.

What Happens At The Bonfire?

At the Bonfire, quite a few interesting events unfold. Initially, you’ll find yourselves seated with the group, sharing laughter as they savor a unique island treat known as Dragon Tear Fruit. This rare fruit, grown sparsely on the island, is believed to induce a heightened state of consciousness when consumed. In simpler terms, after consuming this fruit, the group experiences a state similar to being high, which results in a rather amusing situation.

Following these events, you will be prompted to select one of your group members to accompany you to the Bonfire. This decision carries significant weight for two key reasons.

Initially, there’s an emotional conversation exclusive to one character available for you, each providing dialogues that are truly captivating. Moreover, the character you select will grant you a distinct weapon associated with their specialized Archetype, which is quite uncommon.

Who Should You Choose?

So, now comes the most important question. Who should you take to the Bonfire?

Initially, let me emphasize that although these weapons exhibit slight differences, essentially, they share identical attributes and produce the same result. In essence, regardless of your selection, you’re essentially acquiring the same weapon, but with a distinct Archetype attached to it.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that though these weapons are advantageous at present, other alternatives might be superior. Therefore, choosing one type doesn’t mean that another type won’t have the opportunity to thrive.

The choice ultimately hinges on the Archetype you lean towards frequently, and the typical makeup of your team. To aid in making an educated selection, here’s a summary of each weapon that will be presented based on your chosen character:

CharacterWeapon NameWeapon StatsEffect
StrohlRebel’s Greatsword320 Attack – 95 HitRecovers a small amount of MP each turn
HulkenbergDriftwood Lance320 Attack – 97 HitRecovers a small amount of MP each turn

EuphaDancing Crosier320 Attack – 96 HitRecovers a small amount of MP each turn
GallicaWhalebone Rod320 Attack – 96 HitRecovers a small amount of MP each turn

As for my preference, here’s a hint: Heismay, the Thief Archetype, turns out to be quite beneficial even in the final stages of the game. However, other fantastic options currently available are Eupha and Junah, with Gallica coming close, though not as much.
