Details about the day one update for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond have been released, showing it will include new features and fix some problems. Fans have been waiting almost eight years since the game was first announced, and the release date of December 4, 2025, is finally approaching.
Many players have fond memories of the Metroid Prime series, despite having waited a long time for a new installment. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was first announced with a brief teaser in 2017, but its development faced numerous challenges, including being completely restarted with a new development team at Retro Studios. Even as the release date approaches, Nintendo is planning a day one update to make a few final adjustments.
When Metroid Prime 4: Beyond releases, players will need to download a small update. This update includes improvements to the game, such as changes to enemy difficulty in Hard Mode and controller vibration during cutscenes. Retro Studios has also made other behind-the-scenes adjustments to enhance the experience.
The update doesn’t just fix issues; it also enhances the gameplay. Now, controllers will vibrate during cutscenes, and players can use amiibo figures directly from the pause menu. With Metroid Prime 4: Beyond having its own amiibo, including one of the villain Sylux, many fans would have been upset if this feature hadn’t been added.
Image made by Game Rant As a huge Metroid fan, I was so excited to hear Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is coming to both the Switch and the new Switch 2! And Nintendo’s made it really easy to upgrade if you decide to get the new console later. There’s an icon in the game’s menu after the title screen – if you select it on a Switch 2 with the Switch version of the game, it takes you right to the eShop page where you can buy the upgrade. It’s a really thoughtful touch!

This has happened before with Nintendo games – both Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokemon Legends Z-A were released ahead of schedule in some places, causing concern about potential spoilers. Now, the wait is almost over as Samus Aran embarks on a new journey to explore the planet Viewros.
