In the narrative of My Hero Academia, there are numerous influential heroes and villains. However, not all of them manage to maintain their peak performance throughout Izuku Midoriya’s epic journey. As we delve deeper into the plot, it becomes clear that following the sudden appearance of Quirks and heroes, many exceptionally strong characters arose from the embers, garnering fame for themselves and regularly displaying their remarkable fighting abilities whenever the opportunity presented itself.

In essence, many characters in “My Hero Academia” still possess formidable fighting capabilities, yet it’s evident that they are no longer operating at peak performance. This situation, however, just adds to their allure as fans eagerly anticipate insights into their past strength. On the contrary, some characters demonstrate immense power and dependability initially, only to experience significant power reductions later on. It’s worth noting that these characters, for various reasons, are no longer as powerful as they once were in the series, with this list containing spoilers up to the end of season 7 of the anime, focusing on characters who have passed their prime at the start of the story and by the end of the current season.

6. Ragdoll

One Of The Wild Wild Pussycats’ Members Is Suddenly Left Without A Quirk

First Appearance: Episode 49

In the Forest Training Camp storyline, Ragdoll makes her entrance as a faithful comrade of the lively band of heroes, the Wild Wild Pussycats. Her unique talent for gathering intel and monitoring allies was unparalleled, but tragically, All For One snatched away this skill from her shortly after her introduction.

From hereon, Ragdoll persistently seeks means to aid her fellow feline comrades, given that she’s no longer able to be a hero as she’s Quirk-less. Previously, when she had her Quirk, Ragdoll was an indispensable resource for the heroes, providing crucial support during battles. However, her tenure would end tragically at the hands of All For One, who coveted Search, a Quirk that he and Shigaraki utilized frequently in their final confrontation.

5. Re-Destro

Re-Destro And His Amy Slowly Begin To Crumble Once The League Of Villains Gets Involved

First Appearance: Episode 108

For many years, Re-Destro skillfully operated a criminal enterprise beneath the radar of authorities, simultaneously amassing immense business success and attracting a legion of devoted supporters. However, when he enters the central plotline and confronts the League of Villains, his once unshakeable power begins to falter bit by bit.

Following a series of battles that claimed some of his top lieutenants, such as Geten and Curious, Re-Destro was compelled to transfer the leadership of the Meta Liberation Army to Shigaraki, having been struck by the creative way his adversary utilized his powers freely without limits. Not long after, Re-Destro found himself incarcerated, signaling the conclusion of his descent from power and prestige.

4. Hawks

No Longer Being Able To Use His Wings Severely Nerfs Hawks’ Power

First Appearance: Episode 87

The sad truth about Hawks is that throughout most of the narrative, he was at his best, mirroring Ragdoll in this regard. However, much like Ragdoll, he was inevitably brought down by All For One during their final conflict. Despite valiantly trying to protect other heroes from a menacing villain, Hawks ultimately found himself weakened and lifeless in All For One’s grasp. Over time, his Quirk was drained away until his wings were permanently lost.

Prior to the unfortunate encounter, Hawk held the second key role among the heroes, primarily due to his extraordinary speed and agility, attributes granted by his wings. Essentially serving as a covert operative for hero society, he could swiftly neutralize any suspicious villains using a cloud of his razor-sharp feathers. However, with All For One entering the picture, these abilities would no longer remain effective.

3. All For One

The Main Villain Of The Series Is Eventually Able To Show Off The True Strength Of His Peak Form In The Final War

First Appearance: Episode 47

In my perspective, there’s no doubt that All For One stands out as the most formidable antagonist in this series, even though he’s no longer at his prime. The mechanical mask that adorns him throughout most of the story is a clear indication that his body has undergone wear and tear over time. Despite his powers still being potent, he falls far short compared to his past performances against legends like Nana Shimura, in terms of speed and durability.

During the final battle, spectators would witness the true strength of this iteration of All For One when he employs his Rewind ability to revert himself back in time. As he transforms into a young adult, it becomes nearly impossible to defeat him, necessitating a full-scale force of Pro-Heroes just to inflict any substantial harm on the villainous powerhouse.

2. Gran Torino

The Old Geezer Was Once One Of The Fastest Crimefighters Patrolling The Streets

First Appearance: Episode 27

Once associated with Nana Shimura and a mentor to All Might, Gran Torino has had an active career as a hero, known for his speedy Jet Quirk that once made him one of the fastest heroes around. While he still retains some agility when Midoriya chooses to train under him, Gran Torino is mostly semi-retired and not as robust as he was in his prime, due to age and size reduction, which impacts both his strength and durability.

Though we’ve only seen brief glimpses of Gran Torino’s past as a Pro-Hero in the series, his ability to match pace with Nana, wielder of One For All at that time, demonstrates he was no ordinary hero. In the main narrative, Gran Torino remains a valuable ally for the heroes, consistently ready to lend a hand wherever needed, even in his advanced age.

1. All Might

When Midoriya Meets All Might, It’s Clear That The Constant Fighting Has Taken A Heavy Toll On The Number 1 Hero

First Appearance: Episode 1

In the main story, it’s truly surprising to see how incredibly swift and powerful All Might is, considering that this isn’t even his peak performance. Over the years, through crime-fighting and injuries inflicted by All For One, All Might appears to be nearing the end of his tenure as One For All’s successor. This explains why he’s not as quick on the draw as he was when he was a young hero alongside Nana and Nighteye.

In his peak, All Might was so formidable to villains that he single-handedly reduced Japan’s crime rate to less than 6%. Additionally, through a flashback with Nighteye, it seems he may have been faster than he appeared when first encountered by Midoriya. This isn’t surprising given the reverence All Might commands among heroes and the intense animosity he inspires in villains due to his ability to keep the streets clean during his prime.
