Summary
- Various Quirks in My Hero Academia enhance speed, aiding heroes like Todoroki, Hawks, and Gran Torino.
- Bakugo and Ida also exhibit unique uses of their Quirks to boost speed in battles.
- Quirks like Fa Jin and Gearshift provide a sudden speed surge at a cost, showcasing versatile abilities.
In the world of My Hero Academia, it’s essential for Pro-Heroes to maintain a good blend of offensive and defensive skills to handle any villains they encounter. Yet, speed is not less significant. Fortunately, numerous Quirks within the series have been observed that significantly enhance a character’s agility, enabling them to swiftly rescue civilians from potential danger in a matter of seconds.
Conversely, the antagonists can equally profit from an increase in speed, mainly since it simplifies the process of escaping the good guys following a series of chaos on the streets. In the anime “My Hero Academia”, numerous intriguing and special Quirk abilities have been unveiled. However, when it comes to sheer speed, these are the ones that outshine the others.
8. Half-Cold Half-Hot
After Practicing How To Use His Quirk, Todoroki Managed to Reach Some Insane Speeds
- First Appearance: Episode 5
According to its name, Todoroki’s power is divided between fire and ice. When facing a formidable foe, he often chooses to unleash his father’s flames in a dazzling offensive move. Meanwhile, his ice abilities serve primarily for defense, shielding him from incoming attacks. Interestingly, they also enable him to swiftly glide across the battlefield at speeds faster than most other heroes can manage.
In the early training sessions, Todoroki frequently employs his ice powers. However, it isn’t until he works under his father, Endeavor, that the full speed potential of Half-Cold Half-Ice truly manifests. Todoroki’s Quirk is renowned for its versatility, enabling it to be utilized in numerous ways, one of which is enhancing a person’s overall speed.
7. Fierce Wings
Being Able To Move At Blistering Speeds Makes Hawks The Perfect Undercover Hero
- First Appearance: Episode 67
In the Pro-Hero narrative, Endeavor reveals that Hawks ascended to position number two not just because of his widespread admiration but also due to his exceptional combat speed. With his Fierce Wings activated, Hawks swiftly navigates the skies at breathtaking speeds, discharging tiny feather projectiles as he tackles any perceived dangers to hero community.
In a heartbeat, I found myself dashing towards Endeavor as the menacing Hood Nomu launched an attack. Remarkably, it seemed like no time had passed at all before I arrived on the scene, even though I was quite a distance away. This incredible speed of mine makes me perfectly suited for undercover operations where I can swiftly apprehend a shady villain, vanish from sight just as quickly, and leave everyone around completely unaware that anything untoward had happened.
6. Jet
Moving Faster Than The Eye Can See Made Gran Torino A Feared Hero Back In The Day
- First Appearance: Episode 27
Observing closely, I can’t help but marvel at my mentor, Gran Torino’s incredible speed in combat. His unique Quirk allows him to propel himself by releasing air from the soles of his feet, making it challenging to trace his movements during intense battles. It’s not uncommon for All Might to speak highly of Torino’s agility, a trait that enables him to swiftly apprehend groups of villains in rapid succession, working alongside his partner Nana with remarkable efficiency.
In the primary narrative, despite Torino appearing slightly matured, he remains exceptionally agile, a fact that Midoriya discovers later when they meet their new instructor. This encounter eventually leaves Midoriya feeling mortified as Torino demonstrates his astonishingly quick attacks.
5. Explosion
Bakugo Has Found Some Pretty Creative Ways To Use His Quirk To Enhance His Speed
- First Appearance: Episode 1
In typical scenarios, Bakugo employs his destructive Explosion Quirk primarily for attacks. However, its earth-rattling force also offers him an additional means of mobility. Initially in the series, he propelled himself forward by detonating explosions behind him. Yet, what has truly propelled him high on this list is his Quirk Awakening, particularly his Cluster ability.
In a flash, Bakugo’s ability to create continuous blasts propels him swiftly across the battlefield, often matching speed with even the most powerful Shigaraki during their final conflict. This demonstrates that while a Quirk may appear to serve just one function at first, like offense or defense, it can be versatile when used creatively and mastered through practice.
4. Fa Jin
By Powering Up Their Limbs, The User Of Fa Jin Can Gain A Sudden Surge In Speed
- First Appearance: Episode 134
Following the acquisition of the Quirks from previous One For All users, Midoriya frequently relies on a technique called Fa Jin. By focusing energy into a particular body part, Midoriya can accumulate power and then release it suddenly, boosting both his strength and speed. In his battle against Lady Nagant, he utilized this skill to surpass her bullet speed, ultimately executing his lethal Faux 100% attack, which defeated her permanently.
This “Quirk” is somewhat complex to manage, but with skillful use, it becomes an effective tool for dodging attacks from adversaries and unexpectedly dealing damage. Despite being sparingly demonstrated throughout the narrative, Fa Jin has demonstrated its speed as one of the quickest abilities in the entire series.
3. Engine
Ida Is Ready To Save Anyone In Need With His Speed-Based Quirk Ability
- First Appearance: Episode 3
Following Ida isn’t a casual stroll, given he’s equipped with leg-mounted engines for an instant speed boost whenever he sets off. Initially swift, his true speed becomes evident in the climactic war, showcasing the full capacity of his engine’s power.
In the narrative, Ida’s speed significantly improved due to the Recipro Turbo upgrade, a feature he discovered later and employed effectively during criminal pursuits. During the climactic battle, Ida’s Engine Quirk allowed him to swiftly move Todoroki into and out of the fray, almost instantaneously.
2. Gearshift
Gearshift Can Allow Its User To Move At Mind-Bending Speeds When Activated
- First Appearance: Episode 151
Koda informs Midoriya, following his acquisition of Gearshift, that this unique power should be utilized sparingly as it’s essentially a powerful weapon, taking a toll on the user due to its immense strength. In essence, it flouts the rules of physics to swiftly accelerate the user at an extraordinary speed, enabling them to deliver a crippling blow with virtually no chance of defense by their opponent.
Previously mentioned, this special ability of Midoriya’s does indeed have significant drawbacks: he can’t repeatedly use it within a few minutes without causing serious harm to himself. However, in his battle against Shigaraki, Gearshift would prove indispensable, enabling Midoriya to dodge and counterattack effectively, gradually wearing down the powerful villain.
1. One For All
All Might Was Able To Leap Around Japan In The Blink Of An Eye When He Was In His Prime
- First Appearance: Episode 1
One For All is an uncommon ability in terms of its capabilities. While it’s evident that All Might and Midoriya experience a significant power increase, what sets it apart is its additional effect on speed. All Might, for instance, has been observed flying across the entire country in mere seconds during a flashback with Nighteye. This demonstrates his ability to prevent criminal activities from spiraling out of control.
In the series, when All Might initially encounters All For One, the latter teasingly points out that All Might isn’t as swift as he used to be, even though he remains the swiftest among all Pro Heroes. It’s worth noting that Horikoshi, the creator, disclosed in a fanbook that at his peak, All Might could move at speeds equivalent to Mach 10. This underscores the immense power and speed boost One For All can offer its users who master it effectively.
