Micron Shutting Down Its Consumer Crucial RAM and SSD Brand

Micron is discontinuing Crucial, its brand known for affordable RAM and solid-state drives, and will no longer produce those products.

Announced on Wednesday, Micron said that the growth of AI has led to this “difficult decision”.

According to Micron Executive Vice President Sumit Sadana, the increasing use of artificial intelligence is driving up demand for data center memory and storage. As a result, Micron has decided to stop selling products under the Crucial brand to focus on providing better service and supply to its biggest customers and to prioritize faster-growing areas of the market.

Sadana expressed gratitude to Crucial’s dedicated customers, acknowledging their support over the past 29 years.

Micron explained that this decision demonstrates their dedication to reshaping their business and focusing on the most promising and profitable areas of memory and storage. By prioritizing core enterprise and commercial customers, Micron hopes to strengthen its long-term performance and deliver greater value to its customers and investors.

Micron confirms that Crucial products will remain available for purchase until the end of February 2026. They also plan to continue offering warranty support through their partners and directly to customers.

Micron is discontinuing its Crucial brand as demand from artificial intelligence and data centers drives up prices for consumers. With large companies purchasing most of the available memory, consumer RAM prices have increased dramatically – in some cases, by 250% or more – across all brands.
