Microsoft Executive Reaffirms Xbox’s Commitment To Switch 2 Support

So, I heard from a top person at Microsoft that they’re still totally planning to bring Xbox games to the new Nintendo Switch 2. It sounds like they’re really serious about getting their games on more platforms – we’ve already seen a bunch of games that used to only be on Xbox now showing up on the original Switch, and they want to keep that going!

With console sales down and games taking longer to develop, Microsoft began increasing its gaming income by releasing titles on competing platforms starting in early 2024. The latest move in this strategy is a remake of Halo 1 coming to the PlayStation 5 on the same day it launches for Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2026.

Switch 2 Isn’t Getting Halo (Yet), But More Xbox Games Are Coming

Although Nintendo didn’t reveal the Switch 2 during its October 24th presentation, Microsoft plans to support the new console. According to Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, in a recent interview with Famitsu, the company wants to make it easier for people to play their games, using services like Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere. He also confirmed that Microsoft intends to continue releasing games for both the Switch 2 and PlayStation 5.

Phil Spencer recently praised both Nintendo and PlayStation for their support as Xbox expands to play games on more platforms. He specifically highlighted Nintendo’s assistance and reaffirmed Xbox’s commitment to bringing games to the upcoming Switch 2, describing Nintendo as a valuable partner for Microsoft’s gaming business.

Although Halo isn’t coming to Nintendo consoles yet, another popular Microsoft game is: Fallout 4 will be released on the Switch 2 in a special Anniversary Edition. Currently planned for a 2026 launch, this will be the first major Fallout game ever available on a Nintendo system. Fallout Shelter was released on Switch in 2018, but this new release marks a significant step as it comes after Microsoft acquired the Fallout series through its purchase of ZeniMax Media.

Although Microsoft officially started regularly publishing games for other platforms in early 2024, they’ve occasionally released titles on Nintendo Switch since the console first launched. Recently, in the summer of 2025, they released Heretic + Hexen and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 for the Switch. Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition is the first Microsoft game confirmed to be coming to the Switch 2, but it won’t be available on the original Switch.
