Microsoft is making substantial updates to their Game Pass service, such as new methods for gamers to accumulate points and the incorporation of Quests specifically for PC Game Pass subscribers. These modifications are geared towards promoting “mature gaming experiences,” meaning that the Game Pass Rewards system will only be accessible to players who are 18 years old or older.
Xbox Game Pass grants players entry to an extensive collection of games on both Xbox and Windows PC platforms at a set monthly price. This service offers multiple subscription options, each boasting unique perks. Users can participate in Quests and Rewards, where they accumulate points by finishing certain quests, which they then exchange for assorted prizes. Recently, Microsoft has introduced significant updates to this system.
Starting January 7th, Xbox Wire has announced that Xbox Quests and their associated rewards will no longer be exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Instead, PC Game Pass users will now also have the opportunity to participate and collect points. Players aged 18 or older with an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass membership can access these Quests via their profile’s Rewards Hub.
It is essential to remember that a minimum playtime is necessary to earn points, and only games within the Game Pass catalog (excluding those with third-party launchers) will be eligible for Quests.
Game Pass Quests and Rewards Changes
- Quests available for PC Game Pass members starting January 7
- New Game Pass quests available
- Daily Play – Earn 10 points a day by playing any game from the Game Pass catalog for at least 15 minutes.
- Weekly Streaks – Play for at least five days a week to complete your streak. The more days you play, the more points you earn. Now comes the challenge: maintain your streak week over week to unlock bigger point multipliers. A 2-week streak will earn 2x the base streak points, a 3-week streak will earn 3x the base streak points, and anything beyond a 4-week streak will earn 4x the base streak points.
- Monthly 4-Pack – Explore the Game Pass catalog by playing four different games (for at least 15 minutes each) every month.
- Monthly 8-Pack – Push your gaming further and play eight different games (for at least 15 minutes each) every calendar month. Don’t worry, the 4 games from your 4-Pack count towards the 8-Pack, too.
- PC Weekly Bonus, awarding them 150 points when playing (for at least 15 minutes) for 5 days or more.
- The Rewards Hub used for tracking and earning points on Xbox console, the Xbox app for Windows PC, and the Xbox app for mobile will no longer be available to players under 18 years old.
The updated Game Pass Quest system offers a user-friendly experience, providing opportunities for daily, weekly, and monthly rewards. Moreover, Xbox Game Pass weekly streaks have returned, enabling players who engage in at least five sessions per week to boost their points. Maintaining this streak week after week can escalate the multiplier from 2x to 4x. Furthermore, users can amass points daily by delving into any title within the Game Pass library or receive monthly packs by spending a minimum of 15 minutes with four to eight different games throughout the month.
Adult members (18 years and above) can win a fresh weekly PC bonus by spending 15 minutes daily for five consecutive days while playing. It’s important to note that Microsoft prioritizes age-relevant experiences, so minors won’t have access to the new benefits or rewards associated with this offer. The only method for underage players to accrue rewards from playing any Xbox Game Pass title is through parentally approved purchases of eligible items in Microsoft’s store. This update aims to offer additional fun ways for subscribers to utilize their service.
