Microsoft Won’t Stop Selling Xbox Consoles in Saudi Arabia

As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt and countless hours spent navigating various console landscapes, I can confidently say that the recent speculations about Xbox pulling out of Saudi Arabia have left me, and many other gamers, feeling a tad uneasy. However, after reading Ami Silverman’s statement, it seems we can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Lately, rumors have emerged suggesting that Microsoft might be planning to discontinue the sale of Xbox consoles in Saudi Arabia. A social media post initiated speculation by stating that ‘distributors will no longer be able to acquire the console.’

As this intriguing discovery unfolded, I found myself drawn into the fray, with Microsoft stepping up to clarify matters. It was none other than their Chief Consumer Sales Officer, Ami Silverman, who set the record straight for all of us gamers.

No Plans

In a statement circulated amongst outlets, Xbox’s Ami Silverman said:

Xbox equipment is accessible in all nations that officially support Xbox hardware, which includes Saudi Arabia. However, the availability of consoles might differ by country. Xbox games, on the other hand, can be enjoyed on consoles, personal computers, smartphones, tablets, and TVs where Xbox Cloud Gaming service is offered. While the statement may not be particularly strong, it does assure us that Xbox currently has no plans to withdraw from Saudi Arabia. For now, this information should help ease the worries of gaming enthusiasts in the Middle East.

Over the past few years, Xbox has encountered some rough waters, but their aim is to expand globally and make their gaming platform the most inclusive gaming service in history.

Approximately a year ago, Phil Spencer announced significant expansion in the Asian market. By July 2024, it was mentioned that Microsoft’s gaming platform has over 500 million active users each month, and this number is increasing at an extremely rapid pace.

This year, I’ve been part of an exciting journey with Xbox. Amidst some tough decisions like layoffs and closing studios, we’re experiencing unprecedented growth. Simultaneously, Microsoft has soared to a staggering $3 trillion market cap. It’s truly remarkable to be a part of such a dynamic gaming landscape!

But I digress.
