As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a twinge of excitement upon hearing about Midnight Murder Club coming to PlayStation 5 and PC. The thrill of the unknown, the echoing footsteps, the chilling laughter – these are the elements that have drawn me into countless dark corridors and dimly lit rooms in games past.
Game studio Velan Studios has revealed that the game “Midnight Murder Club” will soon be playable on both PlayStation 5 and personal computers, and it will feature cross-platform compatibility. To add to the excitement, a demo of the game can already be played!
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the upcoming release of Midnight Murder Club, our studio’s first game since Knockout City. This isn’t just another shooter; it’s a six-player experience set in an immense, pitch-black mansion where the only sources of light are your flashlight cutting through the darkness or the muzzle flashes of weapons piercing your sense of security.
Check out a trailer, below:
When you can’t rely entirely on sight, sound becomes that much more important. Midnight Murder Club has detailed positional audio, which we paired with a fantastic implementation of proximity chat for a truly immersive experience. If your teammate’s speaking to you in the main hall, their voice will echo realistically through the hall and into the surrounding rooms. When a gunfight breaks out in another part of the mansion, you’ll be able to accurately follow the muffled player laughter and gunfire to point you in the direction of the action. It’s like you’re actually in the mansion!
In a game that leverages all your senses for an immersive experience, teaming up with PlayStation to incorporate unique DualSense features on both PS5 and Steam was the logical move. As you navigate through a dark mansion, the DualSense controller introduces a novel tactile element, simulating contact sensations when you collide with objects. The sensation of running your hand along walls for orientation, encountering armor, struggling to open doors amid gunfire, and other such experiences become more vivid than ever before, all thanks to DualSense. To heighten the immersion even further, we employ adaptive triggers to provide a sense of weight with each flashlight click and trigger pull.
The full game will have more modes, but right now in the demo you can try:
- Free-for-All – Six people enter the mansion, and the player with the most kills when time runs out wins.
- Thief in the Night – Three teams of two scour the mansion for valuable skulls to deposit into a vault. When the last vault closes, the team with the most money wins.
The demo is available for PS5 and Steam until December 22nd. The team doesn’t have a firm release date for the game yet, but it’s likely to come to early access in “early 2025”.
