Miles Ross Released by Activision As Microsoft Layoffs Hit the Call of Duty League

As a long-time follower and admirer of Miles ‘MilesTheRoss’ Ross, I must say this recent turn of events has left me quite disheartened. For years, his impeccable commentary talents have been a staple in the Call of Duty esports scene, illuminating tournaments with his insightful analysis and infectious enthusiasm.

The gaming personality known as MilesTheRoss (Miles Ross) has been terminated by Activision, coinciding with a series of layoffs happening at Microsoft. He acknowledged his dismissal from the Call of Duty League team; however, the exact number of employees affected is still uncertain.

For quite some time, Miles Ross showcased his exceptional commentary skills on Call of Duty League’s broadcasts, making him a familiar face in the competitive Call of Duty (COD) community. With numerous accolades under his belt, he has relished many seasons basking in the limelight as an esteemed caster.

‘This Certainly Sucks’

This news coincided with a social media post by Ross, who chose not to tarnish the reputation of Activision or Microsoft in his comments.

A week ago, I found myself among those who were terminated from Activision Blizzard King (ATVI), due to the recent round of Microsoft layoffs. This unfortunate event included my talented colleagues from the Call of Duty League (CDL) team.

Although it’s disappointing, I remain incredibly enthusiastic about the upcoming Call of Duty Season 6, and I’m especially looking forward to what the future may bring.

Currently, I’m no longer exclusive to Call of Duty, so feel free to reach out and let’s join forces to conquer some levels together!

Daddy needs that diaper money.

Every year about now, the rostermania period for the Call of Duty League begins, allowing teams to make adjustments. Not just players, but also production staff and broadcasters are often let go during this time, a practice that’s growing more frequent.

regrettably, this isn’t the initial time the Call of Duty League has faced layoffs; it raises doubts about the league’s stability within the competitive gaming industry.

At present, it seems as though the Call of Duty League teams are carrying on business as usual, which might indicate that there aren’t many significant issues brewing that could disrupt the 2025 season. It’s important to recall that just a few months ago, the leadership of the CDL enacted several transformative decisions aimed at improving the teams within the League.

Truly unfortunate is our situation, as we must say goodbye to Miles Ross. His commentary abilities were not just impressive; they were game-changers.
