Millions of Steam Users Are Planning on Checking Out a New Open World Action RPG Coming Soon

Crimson Desert, a highly anticipated game launching on March 19th, has already been wishlisted over two million times. Since it was first announced, the game has generated a lot of excitement, especially among fans of open-world RPGs on Steam. For several years, Crimson Desert has been a hot topic in the gaming world, praised for its ambitious scope and its attempt to create a deep and complex gameplay experience.

Pearl Abyss announced that their game, Crimson Desert, will launch on March 19, 2026, and development is currently on schedule. As the release date nears, more and more players are expressing their excitement, with many predicting Crimson Desert will be one of the year’s biggest games – alongside highly anticipated titles like GTA 6.

Crimson Desert Crosses Two Million Wishlists

Pearl Abyss announced on Twitter that their upcoming game, Crimson Desert, has reached over two million wishlists. This total likely combines wishlists from Steam, the Epic Games Store, and consoles like Xbox and PlayStation. Raijin.gg estimates that nearly one million of those wishlists are on Steam, with the rest coming from other platforms.

Pearl Abyss has announced that Crimson Desert is finished with development and is now in the final stages of polishing and optimization. They’ve also excited fans by hinting at new characters and support for the PlayStation 5 Pro, which has led to a significant increase in pre-orders and wishlists.

Data from SteamDB shows that Crimson Desert is currently the 17th most wishlisted upcoming game on Steam. Subnautica 2 remains the most popular, with Deadlock and Resident Evil Requiem following behind. Interestingly, Crimson Desert, which is priced at $70, is already among Steam’s top 100 best-selling games, meaning a significant number of players have already pre-purchased it, not just added it to their wishlists.

High Wishlist Numbers Don’t Necessarily Mean Success

Although Crimson Desert has a very high number of pre-release wishlists, that doesn’t automatically mean it will be a hit. Many games have generated a lot of pre-release excitement, only to fail when they actually launched and disappoint players. The Day Before is a prime example – it was once the most wishlisted game on Steam, but turned out to be a disastrous release, even leading to the studio shutting down.

More Games

Unlike the troubled launch of games like The Day Before, Crimson Desert has benefited from significant development time focused on refinement. However, with its massive open world and cutting-edge features – including realistic clouds and advanced lighting effects – the game faces a tough challenge to run smoothly when it releases on March 19th. Players are hoping for a polished experience that will impress the many RPG fans excited to play it.
