Yacht Club Games announced that the release of *Mina the Hollower* will be delayed, meaning it won’t be available on Halloween as originally expected. The developers need more time to fine-tune the game’s balance and make final adjustments before setting a firm release date.
Yacht Club Games, known for the popular indie game *Shovel Knight*, is creating a new game called *Mina the Hollower*. While *Shovel Knight* was a side-scroller, *Mina the Hollower* will be played from an overhead, isometric viewpoint, reminiscent of classic *Zelda* games. The gameplay takes inspiration from the challenging “Soulslike” genre. Players will control Mina, a mouse-like character, as she explores the dangerous Tenebrous Isle and battles frightening creatures. The game was successfully funded through a Kickstarter campaign in 2022, raising over $1.4 million.
Mina the Hollower Is Delayed
Originally, *Mina the Hollower* was planned to release on Halloween across various platforms, but that’s no longer happening. Yacht Club Games announced a delay from the October 31st launch date, though they assured fans the game is almost finished. The announcement came more than three weeks before the intended release. They explained the delay isn’t significant and will allow them to polish the game. The developer won’t announce a new release date until the game has been submitted to online stores and asked for players’ understanding.
Yacht Club Games is finishing up development on *Mina the Hollower* by polishing the sound and graphics, fine-tuning gameplay balance, and adding language support. They’re also conducting more testing and fixing bugs on all platforms – including older consoles – before launch. A demo was available for a limited time in June 2025, letting players try the game and share their thoughts.
I’ve been seeing how well indie games like *Hollow Knight: Silksong* and *Hades 2* have done, and honestly, the fact that *Mina the Hollower* got delayed might actually work out for Yacht Club Games. It’ll give them some breathing room. I’m really curious to see how much of the player feedback they incorporate once the game finally launches – that could make or break it, you know?
