- I Regressed as the Duke disappointed fans with a forced conclusion
Many exceptional Manhwa disappointingly come to an end prematurely for various reasons. Some creators may grow weary or move on to new projects, while in unfortunate cases, health problems might force them to halt production. On the other hand, some series are abruptly terminated due to publishing complications or failing to meet expectations, leading to their cancellation.
I’ve put together a rundown of some fantastic Manhwa series that unfortunately came to an early conclusion. Let me share the factors that led to these unexpected endings.”
This version is written in first person and aims to convey the enthusiasm of someone who appreciates Manhwa series, while still maintaining the original meaning of the text.

FFF-CLASS Trash Hero
Axed Before The Story Came Into Fruition

- Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Shounen, Isekai
- Author: Farnar (Art & Story)
In the realm of Manhwa series that have been prematurely ended, it’s FFF-CLASS Trash Hero that appears to be the latest casualty, sliced down by the heavy swing of the axe. The author was compelled to hastily produce content during the final arc, resulting in numerous unresolved plot threads, secondary characters waiting for their own concluding subplots, and a main character who abruptly left his training regimen to engage in a climactic showdown with the Big Bad Evil Guy for good.
It’s not hard to understand why some fans might think that was a deliberate move by the author, given that they were promoting their other series, “Is this Hero For Real?”, which at the time of writing this piece, appeared to be receiving similar treatment as “FFF-CLASS Trash Hero”.
Summoners Wars: Summoners Academy
Its Abrupt Ending Shocked Fans
- Genre: Action, School Life, Comedy, Sword and Sorcery, Drama
- Author: Tarzyan
- Artists: Grami
Occasionally, exceptional Manhwa narratives aren’t designed to span over 500 chapters or so; instead, they are concluded prematurely after just 50 installments, wrapping up the storyline. This was the fate of Summoners Academy, a series that promised to be a top pick for reading in 2025. However, from chapter 47 onwards, the content started moving at a rapid pace, leading to an unexpectedly early end with a final showdown against the Headmaster of the Academy.
In conclusion, this captivating School Life Fantasy series wrapped up, leaving viewers in awe due to the enigmatic absence of the main villain’s motivations and an unexpectedly bittersweet, compulsory reunion between our central characters post-battle. Despite its relatively recent debut and impressive ratings, along with visually appealing artwork that was both vibrant and colorful, fans are left puzzled as to why the story ended so abruptly.
The Story Of A Low-Ranking Soldier Becoming A Monarch
The Last Battle Arc Left Fans Wanting For More, But Then Came A Forced Epilogue That Nobody Expected

- Genres: Medieval, Martial Arts, Action, Aventure, War & Conquest
- Author: doip
- Artist: SOULPUNG
Remarkably, tales with compelling arcs often return to their origins, yet it seems the conclusion of “Becoming The Monarch” has left fans puzzled as to why it concluded so abruptly. As Count Chris Proudmoor reached the culmination of the Civil War within his Kingdom, and ascended to a unifying Monarchy, readers anticipated glimpses into the rebuilding process and governance narratives.
Unfortunately, the story concluded abruptly, with a summary-style epilogue that didn’t quite wrap up all the plotlines involving the Main Character and Secondary Characters. Regrettably, there were too many unresolved aspects, particularly for those who had been rooting for the Alchris relationship (Alice and Chris). These fans were left feeling let down by the ending.
A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special
A Cliffhanger Ending Was The Worst Possible Idea

- Genres: Isekai, Sword & Magic, School Drama
- Author: Wookjakga
- Artist: Usonan
Although many fans found both the book and anime versions enjoyable, those who read the Manhwa were left with a mix of sweetness and sadness following its conclusion in 2024. The final chapter (epilogue) depicted a power struggle between the two main heroines: Adjest and Romantica, leaving readers with the understanding that the outcome could have gone either way due to a dramatic cliffhanger.
From the perspective of Team Adjest, it was clear to me that Adjest and Desir were the ideal pair, destined for greatness as Empress and Arch Mage respectively, much like in our beloved novel. However, Team Romantica found themselves disheartened when things didn’t unfold with an alternate ‘canonical’ ending, where Desir and Romantica chose to elope together instead. One point everyone could agree on: the epilogue left a bitter taste for all.
I Regressed As The Duke
In Only Five Chapters, Everything Ended In A Cloud Of Mystery

- Genres: Sword & Sorcery, Reincarnation, Action, Adventure, Drama, Dark Fantasy
- Author: Golaengji
- Artist: Lee Ha-Jeon
Occasionally, a Manhwa series can be thriving, only for it to suddenly take an unexpected downturn, such as with “I Regressed as the Duke“. In the arc of the Duke’s Memorial Service, where everyone in the Duchy was plotting to lure the Emperor into a trap, and the narrative moving towards a climactic battle Arc, everything came crashing down.
In simpler terms, the narrative began with a twist involving summoning an ancient spirit, leaving many unresolved issues along the way. An over-the-top theory about reincarnation was introduced, and the Main Character was abruptly killed off. There also developed a confusing romantic subplot between one of the Female Characters that felt contrived. In just five chapters, the story took an unexpected turn and hurriedly wrapped up, failing to deliver on the promising plotline the author had been building from the beginning. The ending seemed abrupt with no clear explanation, leading fans to speculate that it was cut short prematurely.
How To Fight
Some Fans Say It Ended Well, But Some Characters Didn’t Have Enough Closure

- Genres: Streaming, Martial Arts, School Drama, Romance
- Author & Artist: Park Tae Joon
In addition to “Lookism” and “Eleceed,” “How To Fight” had been experiencing a surge in popularity as one of the top Action Martial Arts series. However, the author chose to conclude the series after 218 chapters, leaving some fans satisfied with the conclusion of this rollercoaster ride, while others found it difficult to part ways with this controversial series.
Interestingly enough, the pairing (Bomi Choi and Hobin Yoo) that received the most support throughout the series turned out to be an actual couple in real life, which was met with approval by many viewers. However, some felt that the abrupt ending seemed forced, leaving behind unresolved plot points, and that certain secondary characters were not given enough focus.
