Spears were the most anticipated addition in Mojang’s recent Mounts of Mayhem update. As the first new weapon type added to Minecraft in a long time, fans were very excited. Now that the update is available as a snapshot, you can finally test out Spears and everything else it includes.
Spears are helpful weapons for both attacking enemies and protecting yourself in close combat. They’re a valuable addition to your equipment, and fortunately, they’re simple to craft. Here’s a guide on how to make a Spear in *Minecraft*.
How to Get Spears in Minecraft
Spears come in different strengths depending on what you make them with. The material you choose determines how powerful the spear will be. Here’s what you’ll need to craft one:
- 2 x Sticks
- 1 x piece of material (like Wood, Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond, or Netherite)
If you need sticks, you can make them from planks or catch them while fishing. They’re readily available and have many uses – you’ll need them for crafting lots of different items, and you can even burn them for fuel.
Once you’ve gathered all the necessary items, open your crafting table and arrange the sticks and primary material to match the example shown in the image.
You can currently craft seven different types of spears. Each spear requires two sticks and one unit of the material you want it made from. Here’s the complete list:
- Wooden Spear
- Stone Spear
- Golden Spear
- Copper Spear
- Iron Spear
- Diamond Spear
- Netherite Spear
Spears come in different materials, and each material affects how strong and long-lasting the spear is. A Netherite Spear is the best – it’s incredibly powerful and durable. On the other hand, a Wooden Spear is easier to craft, but it’s much weaker.
In addition to making Spears through crafting, you can also find them as rare drops from certain enemies in Minecraft, such as Zombies, Husks, and Zombie Horsemen. You can improve your Spear’s power by enchanting it, with useful options like Sharpness, Mending, and Unbreaking. Don’t miss the new Lunge enchantment! Also, remember that moving faster will actually make your Spear deal more damage.
Spears are currently only playable in the game’s beta. Things might change slightly when the complete ‘Mounts of Mayhem’ update is released, but Mojang hasn’t announced a release date yet.
