How The Overworld and Nether Were Brought to Life

Fortunately, they had previously worked on similar environments for other projects, allowing them to leverage a vast reservoir of experience throughout the entire movie-making process. As Estey stated, this prior work proved invaluable during production.

The Nether contrasts dramatically with the Overworld. The Overworld is a serene, bright setting, while the Nether is a grimy, tumultuous place, filled with heat and steam. Given our past work on dungeons and darker themes at Weta, it was an area we were well-versed in. As for design principles, certain guidelines were set.
