A creative Minecraft enthusiast came up with four unique shield designs and circulated them among fellow gamers. Known for its intriguing exploration and thrilling combats, Minecraft offers a wide variety of weapons and equipment to help players fend off formidable mobs.
In the beginning of the Minecraft game, the axe is an essential tool for players to gather wood and can also serve as an improvised weapon during unexpected run-ins with spiders or Creepers. Upon discovering diamonds, many players often craft a chestplate first to shield their character’s upper body. Lately, a Minecraft community member shared a concept of what gameplay could be like if there were more diverse gear options for players to utilize during their adventures.
In the Minecraft community’s subreddit, user Diamond_JMS posted their ideas for four distinct types of shields. The first one is a buckler, which doesn’t slow down the player but deflects half of melee attacks, while not offering protection against projectiles. A wooden shield, in contrast, is beneficial for Minecraft’s early game due to its affordability and ability to block half of all physical damage. The iron shield functions similarly to the base game’s shield, but using it to deflect an incoming attack pushes back the assailant and momentarily disables their weapon. Ideal for late-game play, the Netherite shield boasts increased durability, fire resistance, and utilizes trims instead of banners.
Minecraft Player Shows What it Would be Like if the Game Had More Types of Shields
Apart from displaying their shield designs, the original poster also proposed four innovative Minecraft enchantments. The Pummeling enchantment increases the knockback when blocking, while Reflection enables players to return projectiles towards their origin. Stun prolongs a weapon’s stun duration; if the attacker is a mob, it momentarily becomes disoriented and loses track of the player. Lastly, the Respite enchantment restores a bit of health when successfully parrying.
As a Minecraft enthusiast, I jumped at the opportunity to share my thoughts on the latest community post, which garnered an impressive 5,400 upvotes and 118 comments! One creative player suggested a fresh enchantment idea that would nullify knockback when defending. However, some players feel that swapping Minecraft’s banner patterns for armor trims could diminish the allure of Netherite shields. Mojang hasn’t hinted at any plans to introduce new shields yet, but with Minecraft continuously receiving updates, we eagerly anticipate whether new gear might appear in upcoming patches.
