In My Hero Academia, the diverse cast of characters is a standout feature. Though some heroes might seem less prominent as the plot progresses, they rarely disappear entirely from the action. Occasionally, a seemingly insignificant character can have a profound impact on the storyline. This transformation may stem from their unique superpowers (Quirks), or it could be due to their deep-seated commitment and fervor towards the cause, be it for justice or villainy.

It’s delightful to witness minor characters from “My Hero Academia” seize the moment. These characters may not be the main focus in most storylines, but they have the power to significantly alter the plot with their actions.

8. Mei Hatsume

In the anime “My Hero Academia”, Mei doesn’t often appear on screen, but when she does, it’s typically because she’s working on a new outfit or device for Deku to use during his upcoming missions. When the major war broke out and everyone started contributing to the war effort, viewers speculated about how Mei would aid the resistance, given that she’s not particularly combat-oriented.

In simpler terms, Mei devised a bold scheme to protect many lives. She designed a suspended battlefield meant to capture Shigaraki, keeping him aloft in the sky. This way, even if he touched something, an entire city wouldn’t be destroyed. Although Shigarki was eventually knocked out of the arena by Midoriya, Mei’s quick thinking and engineering talent proved vital in controlling his destructive power.

7. Kurogiri

The Mysterious Villain Becomes An Invaluable Asset For The Heroes

First Appearance: Episode 8

In the narrative I’ve been following, it seemed like my character, Kurogiri, was abruptly taken out after getting captured by the heroes at the beginning. This meant that while Shigaraki, Dabi, and the rest of the League had ample opportunities to evolve and develop throughout the tale, mentions of Kurogiri were sparse and brief.

In due course, Kurogiri assumes greater importance when Aizawa starts coercing him to disclose information. This paves the way for the heroes to discover Dr. Garaki’s hiding place at the hospital. Later, Kurogiri’s portals prove instrumental in the heroes’ divide-and-conquer strategy during the final battle against Shigaraki and All For One.

6. Gentle

Makes A Grand Return And Saves A Bunch Of Lives

First Appearance: Episode 176

As an avid fan, I can’t help but share my thoughts on Gentle and La Brava, the captivating duo who graced us with their presence during the School Festival. With intriguing backstories and charismatic personalities, they undeniably added a spark to the event. However, as the story progressed, it felt like they were more of a one-off act compared to the League of Villains, who held a significant role throughout the narrative.

Yet, what seemed initially to be a minor character arc took an unexpected turn during the final war. That’s when Gentle truly proved his importance to the broader plot, leaving us fans eagerly anticipating his future appearances.

When the U.A. floating fortress was moments away from colliding with the ground, potentially resulting in the demise of all students and heroes on board, Gentle unexpectedly intervened. Utilizing his Elasticity Quirk, he softened the impact, transforming what appeared to be a mere inconsequential villain into a genuine hero.

5. Hitsohi Shinso

Brainwash Quirk Becomes Incredibly Useful

First Appearance: Episode 15

During the U.A. Sports Festival, it seemed like Shinso was there to expose the burden of possessing a Quirk that could be perceived as villainous by those aspiring to become heroes. After this storyline, Shinso doesn’t resurface until the Joint Training arc, where he mainly assists Midoriya in his training following the debut of Blackwhip.

In the struggle against All For One and Shigaraki, surprisingly, Shinso emerged from obscurity to become a valuable team member, often coming to the rescue of the heroes in several critical moments. An outstanding instance of this is when he managed to mind-control Gigantomachia, who was proving to be too powerful for the heroes. Shinso’s actions allowed him to keep Gigantomachia under control until it turned against its own master, All For One.

4. Skeptic

Used His Tech Skills To Help Engineer The Collapse Of Hero Society

First Appearance: Episode 108

Due to the fact that Skeptic was frequently overshadowed by Re-Destro, the true leader of the Meta Liberation Army, he was often seen as just another henchman who would be easily dealt with by the heroes. However, many were surprised when Skeptic managed to avoid capture for a significant portion of the series, allowing him to organize a national broadcast for Dabi’s Dance. This event ultimately eroded the people’s faith in hero society.

While Dabi discusses his traumatic childhood under Endeavor and the cold-blooded killing tendencies of heroes like Hawks, it was Skeptic who broadcasted this entire conversation for global viewing and commentary. Initially appearing as just a bothersome troublemaker, Skeptic’s role in shaping the narrative is significant and shouldn’t be overlooked.

3. Lady Nagant

Ensured Shigaraki Couldn’t End The War Too Soon

First Appearance: Episode 133

In simpler terms, Lady Nagant initially appeared as an anti-hero but later turned into a villain during the “Dark Hero” phase. She put up a valiant struggle against Midoriya, yet ultimately, he managed to subdue her and seemingly confine her permanently. Given that she was detained swiftly and entered the narrative at a time when All For One and Shigaraki were dominating the spotlight, Lady Nagant appears to be a relatively minor character in the overall storyline.

Despite the turmoil brought on by the war, Nagant manages to break free from prison and rushes onto the battlefield just in time to shoot at Shigaraki’s hand as he was about to land on the floating arena. If this secondary character hadn’t intervened at that critical moment, Shigaraki could have destroyed everything around him, effectively ending the war instantly.

2. Edgeshot

A Forgettable Pro Hero Saves Bakugo’s Life

First Appearance: Episode 46

In the world of U.A.’s Pro-Heroes, it’s typically All Might, Endeavor, and Hawks who garner the most attention. Edge Shot isn’t far behind initially, boasting a striking appearance and engaging in some battles, but he seems relatively ordinary next to his contemporaries. However, when Kacchan’s heart is shattered, Edge Shot employs his Zenith technique in an extraordinary act to revive the aspiring hero.

Edgeshot’s ability to revive Bakugo significantly impacted the course of the war. This resurrection proved vital, and shortly afterward, Edgeshot defeated All For One and saved All Might from imminent death. There’s little question that the conflict would have grown even more brutal had Edgeshot not intervened at the crucial moment.

1. Yuga Aoyama

A Student Who’d Been Hiding A Dark Secret

First Appearance: Episode 4

Standing out in a class teeming with lively, colorful personalities can be quite challenging for an individual like Yuga. Despite his distinctive character traits – his mischievous demeanor and peculiar Quirk power – he struggled to capture fan attention, as he was among many new characters introduced simultaneously, making it difficult for viewers to zero in on him specifically.

It’s quite unexpected when, just before the final conflict begins, we learn that Yuga had been secretly working with All For One all along. Not only was he the mastermind behind their schemes, but he also bestowed Yuga’s Quirk upon him. This alliance was a result of All For One using blackmail against Yuga, causing him great mental distress. Nevertheless, this revelation underscores Yuga’s significant role in leading the villains to Midoriya and other heroes multiple times throughout the narrative, making his importance far greater than initially expected.
