Man, I really miss *Solo Leveling*! I know the anime and manhwa aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but honestly, sometimes you just need to watch a ridiculously strong character absolutely crush some monsters without even trying. We get overpowered protagonists all the time in anime, it feels like every season has a few, but *Solo Leveling* just felt different – the animation and overall quality were on another level.
Even if they’re not perfect, these anime series are genuinely enjoyable. More importantly, they’re perfect for relaxing and switching off – something everyone needs now and then. Fall 2025 looks especially promising for fans of anime with incredibly powerful characters, including the comeback of *One-Punch Man*. With season 3 of *Solo Leveling* still a ways off, these four shows currently airing could be a great way to pass the time until Sung Jinwoo returns. Plus, they all offer something unique!
We’ve left out *One-Punch Man* season 3 because it’s already well-known and the initial response to the new season wasn’t very strong.
A Wild Last Boss Appeared!
If You Miss Solo Leveling‘s Over-The-Top Battles
A Wild Last Boss Appeared is very similar to Overlord, but features a female main character. While there’s nothing inherently bad about that, the anime has been quite enjoyable so far, especially if you’re prepared for battles that are often heavily one-sided. The story follows a woman who becomes Lufas, two centuries after the original Overlord was defeated in the game Exgate. However, they’ve been transported to a real world, and this new Lufas is determined to reassemble her army, known as the Twelve Stars of Heaven.
Although the story has been good up to this point, *A Wild Last Boss Appeared* really focuses on over-the-top action. Lufas defeats her enemies with impressive skill and a surprising amount of ruthlessness – something you don’t often see in main characters. The action scenes are explosive and quite violent, which is a nice change of pace for this type of fantasy story. The main character is incredibly strong right from the beginning, so she doesn’t experience the same kind of personal growth as some other heroes, but she still needs to figure out what’s happening in the world around her.
My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, I’m Out for Revenge!
If You Miss Solo Leveling’s Zero To All-Powerful Journey
Among the Fall 2025 anime, *My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha* starts with a scene very similar to the beginning of *Solo Leveling*. The main character, Light, is left for dead in a dungeon, facing an enemy they can’t possibly beat. Just when things look hopeless, they activate a unique ability. Light always had the power to summon random items using a skill called Unlimited Gacha, but it was mostly useless. However, thanks to the strong magical energy in the dungeon, Light summons a powerful level 9999 Seeker Maid who easily defeats the enemy.
Light begins a quest for revenge against those who tried to kill him, aided by a powerful ally who considers him her master. He quickly gains incredible strength, but isn’t physically strong himself, instead depending on summoned creatures to fight for him. He lives in a world where humans are seen as worthless, essentially treated as the lowest class – much like being considered a very weak hunter.
My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s
If You Miss Solo Leveling’s Loner Protagonist
The new anime *My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s* follows a familiar premise: an entire class is transported to another world and asked to help a kingdom defeat a powerful Demon Lord. Each student receives a special class, and Akira Oda is designated as an Assassin. He quickly realizes his abilities are far beyond those of his classmates. However, Akira doesn’t fully trust the King, and this skepticism leads to him being falsely accused of murder and exiled.
I’ve noticed a lot of similarities between Akira Oda and Sung Jin-woo, especially after Sung’s big change. They both seem to prefer being alone, spending a lot of time thinking things through, and really try to hide their powers. Both of them are constantly working to get stronger, and interestingly, Akira even started going to dungeons to level up fast, just like Sung did. Family is a big motivator for both of them, and it’s almost uncanny how much they look alike. While Akira might be a little more curious and analytical, they both rely on their intelligence as much as their abilities when they fight.
Sanda
If You Miss Solo Leveling’s Personality Switch & Great Animation
The anime *Sanda* has a strange premise: it’s centered around Santa Claus. While Santa is now considered a legend in the show’s world, he’s actually real and can reappear through his descendants if certain requirements are met. Sanda discovers this unexpectedly when he’s suddenly forced into a red jacket, which instantly transforms him from a typical teenager into a muscular Santa Claus – and also affects his personality.
Sanda’s transformation into Santa is similar to Sung’s journey, as both characters experience significant personality changes they can’t control. Like Sung, Sanda needs time to understand and develop his powers, meaning he doesn’t become all-powerful overnight.
The animation for *Sanda* is being done by Science Saru, and it’s truly impressive – fast-paced, colorful, and just generally excellent. While it has a different style than *Solo Leveling*, both shows are visually stunning.
