In the hit mobile game Pokemon GO, new creatures continue to be added for players to capture, but not all Pokemon can currently be collected. This includes Legendary and Mythical Pokemon from various games, both modern and older. These special Pokemon are typically introduced through unique events, which means they may take longer to appear than common ones. For instance, Mythical Pokemon often need completing specific research tasks before they can be obtained. Here’s a list of all the still-missing Legendary and Mythical Pokemon in Pokemon GO as of January 2025:
1. Xerneas (from Kalos region)
2. Yveltal (from Kalos region)
3. Zygarde (from Kalos region)
4. Dialga (from Sinnoh region)
5. Palkia (from Sinnoh region)
6. Giratina (from Sinnoh region)
7. Phione (from Oblivia region)
8. Manaphy (from Veilstone City)
9. Shaymin (Sky Forme from Sinnoh region and Land Forme from Almia region)
10. Victini (from Isle of Origin)

16. Lunala (from Alola region)

18. Zeraora (from the Ultra Wormhole event)
19. Magearna (from the Special Research quest “A Mythical Discovery”)
Legendary And Mythical Pokemon From Sinnoh And Hisui
In the Sinnoh region, which was once known as Hisui, there are some unexpected absences among the Pokemon population. One of the most conspicuous is Arceus, a creature often considered divine within the Pokemon universe and associated with creation. However, it has yet to make an appearance in the game, possibly due to the challenge of implementing its ability to change types or balancing its exceptionally high base stats in Pokemon GO. Whenever Arceus does arrive in the game, it’s likely to be a unique and significant occasion given its significance within the Pokemon universe.
In addition, this area lacks the water-based Pokemon Phione and Manaphy, as well as the genie-like Therian Forme of Enamorus, who made her debut in Pokemon Legends Arceus. It’s possible that Therian Enamorus may be incorporated into Raid Battles upon her arrival. Phione or Manaphy might become research rewards or the main focus of a special event instead.
- #0489 Phione
- #0490 Manaphy
- #0493 Arceus
- #0905 Enamorus (Therian Forme)
Legendary And Mythical Pokemon From Alola
Among the legendary Pokémon from Alola, such as Solgaleo, Lunala, and the Tapu quartet, many have made their way into Pokémon GO. Yet, some – particularly those introduced later in Generation 7 – are yet to be found. The absence of Type:Null and Silvally might be due to similar reasons as Arceus, as they can change type, which could pose a challenge during implementation. Similarly, Magearna and Zeraora remain absent, with the former being quite surprising given it was one of the first revealed Generation 7 Pokémon. Lastly, while most forms of Necrozma are present in the game, Ultra Necrozma is still missing. It’s likely that this powerful form will be introduced as part of a special event due to its high power level.
- #0772 Type: Null
- #0773 Silvally
- #0800 Necrozma (Ultra Necrozma only)
- #0801 Magearna
- #0807 Zeraora
Legendary And Mythical Pokemon From Galar
Similar to Alola, the Galar region has largely incorporated its initial Legendary creatures into the game; however, Zacian and Zamazenta lack their crown forms which can only be obtained in their “Battle Hero” versions at this time. Eternatus and all the Legendaries introduced through the DLC of Pokemon Sword and Shield – Kubfu, Urshifu, Calyrex, Glastrier, and Spectrier – are not presently available.
In Pokemon GO, there might be an upcoming event focusing on the Isle of Armor, Crown Tundra, or even both, to introduce previously unavailable Pokemon. However, due to technical challenges, Calyrex riding Glastrier and Spectrier might not be feasible in Pokemon GO, so it’s likely that only its base form will appear, with the “Rider” forms possibly not making an appearance.
- #0888 Zacian (Crowned Sword)
- #0889 Zamazenta (Crowned Shield)
- #0890 Eternatus
- #0891 Kubfu
- #0892 Urshifu (Single Strike Style and Rapid Strike Style)
- #0896 Glastrier
- #0897 Spectrier
- #0898 Calyrex (Base Form, Ice Rider, and Shadow Rider)
Legendary And Mythical Pokemon From Paldea
The latest mainline Pokemon games, Scarlet and Violet, have just been released, which means many of the game’s Legendary Pokemon aren’t included yet. As of September 2023, Pokemon from the Paldea region started appearing in Pokemon GO. It’s possible that events or even a whole season featuring these Paldea Pokemon could happen soon. For now, events in early 2025 are focusing on the Unova region, but we might see the spotlight on Paldea soon. The cover legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon will probably make their debut first, followed closely by the treasures from Scarlet and Violet’s DLC, which include new Legendary and Mythical Pokemon.
Moreover, the enigmatic Pokémon duo from Scarlet and Violet, known as the Past and Future Paradox Pokémon, are yet to make their debut in Pokémon GO. While these Pokémon aren’t classified as Legendary or Mythical, they share some traits with them, being relatively scarce and available late in the game. It is anticipated that their arrival could be marked by a grand event or festivity, mirroring the introduction of Alola’s Ultra Beasts, another unique and special group.

Legendary And Mythical Pokemon From Other Regions
In the popular game Pokemon GO, many of the missing Legendary and Mythical Pokemon are from the most recent games. However, there are a few exceptions like Volcanion, a Fire/Water Mythical Pokemon originally from the Kalos region. It’s intriguing that Volcanion hasn’t been included while Hoopa, another Kalos Mythical Pokemon, has been a significant part of events and research tasks in Pokemon GO. Unlike other earlier generation Pokemon such as Arceus, there doesn’t seem to be any specific reason making it challenging to incorporate Volcanion. However, with the release of Pokemon Legends Z-A slated for 2025, this situation might alter, especially if Volcanion plays a significant role in that game.
Absent as well is the Pirouette Form of Meloetta, a Mythical Pokemon from Generation V. The Aria Forme of Meloetta was made available in 2021 during the Pokemon GO Fest and was tied to the “Finding Your Voice” special research mission. Similarly, Keldeo, another Pokemon from Unova, is playable in Pokemon GO but not in its Resolute Forme. Since obtaining Ordinary Forme Keldeo requires the paid special research task “Something Extraordinary,” there’s a chance that Resolute Forme may debut through a similar paid research task or event requiring ticket purchase.
- #0647 Keldeo (Resolute Forme)
- #0648 Meloetta (Pirouette Forme)
- #0721 Volcanion
