Production has begun on the upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie, and Shigeru Miyamoto, a representative from Nintendo and the game’s director, has shared the first look at the film. The Legend of Zelda is a hugely popular video game series, and fans are eager to see how it will be adapted for the big screen.
Recently, many video games have been adapted into live-action TV shows and movies – including hits like The Witcher, Fallout, The Last of Us, and Minecraft. While a Legend of Zelda movie has been in the works, details have been scarce until now. Leaked set footage offered a first glimpse, but the most interesting news is coming directly from Shigeru Miyamoto.

Shigeru Miyamoto, a key figure at Nintendo, recently shared three photos on Twitter from the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie. These images give fans their best glimpse yet of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason as Link and Zelda, respectively. While both actors are early in their careers, they have already gained experience – Ainsworth notably voiced Pinocchio in the 2022 live-action film starring Tom Hanks.
When the movie’s cast was first revealed, some fans expressed disappointment that Hunter Schafer wasn’t chosen to play Zelda. However, based on the photos recently shared by Miyamoto, Emma Bragason seems like a good choice for the role. The photos show Link and Zelda standing in a field, and the costumes and actors’ appearances capture the feel of the classic Legend of Zelda games.
Okay, so the Zelda movie is still over a year away, but Miyamoto-san shared some official pictures and they’re getting me so hyped! Nintendo isn’t saying much else, which is smart – everyone has really high expectations for this one. Honestly, filling the shoes of Link and Zelda is a huge challenge, but the first look at the actors playing them has already won a lot of us fans over. I’m really excited to see where this goes!
