Mizutsune quest guide and tips – Monster Hunter Wilds

In the latest free update, Capcom introduced the “Mizutsune hunt quest” from Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. However, players will need to put in some effort to unlock it. The quest won’t be accessible until you reach the high rank in Wilds, and even then, it might be wise to gather better equipment before attempting it.

Our Monster Hunter Wilds Mizutsune walkthrough offers insights into launching the quest and details about the forthcoming Leviathan-type monster you’ll encounter.

This version aims to maintain the original meaning while using simpler, more conversational language that might be easier for some readers to understand.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Mizutsune quest unlock

The Mizutsune quest is Extra Mission 1: Spirit in the Moonlight, and it unlocks once you:

  • Complete the main campaign and begin chapter four
  • Reach Hunter Rank 16 or higher

It might take some time for your Hunter Rank to reach such a high level. To boost it faster, consider tackling missions beyond the main storyline of Chapter Four.

As soon as you fulfill the requirements, Monster Hunter Wilds will automatically add the quest to your logbook for you. Alma suggests I should visit Kanya in the Crimson Forest since there seems to be an issue brewing within the rainforest’s ecosystem. When you feel ready, go speak with her. Kanya is known for providing a fishing rod and quests like finding a Gravid Bowfin, and she can be found near the pond located at the back of the Scarlet Forest base camp.

Preparation is key before speaking to her, since the adventure commences straight away upon reaching the designated spot.

After finishing Spirit in the Moonlight, you’ll have an opportunity to chat with Alma and undertake the optional mission named “Bubbling Crimson Flowers.” This mission involves hunting Mizutsune once more, but remember that you must be Hunter Rank 21 or above to participate. Note that after achieving Hunter Rank 41 or higher, and having completed Extra Mission 1, tempered versions of Mizutsune will begin appearing.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Mizutsune tips

Mizutsune employs both water and fire attacks, but it’s vulnerable to ice, dragon, and thunder. It’s capable of dealing substantial physical damage, so focusing on armor and accessories that enhance defense and offer elemental resistances is advisable. Since fire isn’t used often by Mizutsune, prioritizing water resistance would be most beneficial.

If you haven’t made Artian weapons yet, now could be an ideal moment to create some. With the correct materials, you can manufacture weapons that take advantage of Mizutsune’s vulnerabilities without needing to collect specific monster components through prolonged grinding. It might also be beneficial for you to explore some hidden armor sets in Monster Hunter Wilds, as they may provide skills such as quicker and more efficient recovery.

Mizutsune emits bubbles that inflict harm and, if they’re red or glowing with blue fire, can also cause burns. Additionally, there’s a good chance these bubbles will knock you down. When Mizutsune becomes enraged, which you can tell by its change to red color, it acts faster. It moves more swiftly, releases more bubbles, and uses its tail swipes more frequently. Consider carrying a ranged weapon as your secondary option to use during this agitated state.

Mizutsune’s mouth serves as its main vulnerability, allowing for the destruction of its head, back fin, and limbs, and either severing or fracturing its tail.
