Playtika, the company that makes popular mobile games such as Bingo Blitz and World Series of Poker, is planning to lay off a large number of employees.
The company announced on Wednesday that it will be reducing its workforce as part of a broader restructuring plan, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Playtika explains this decision is part of a broader effort to cut costs and shift resources to focus on its most promising games. As a result, the company plans to reduce its workforce by approximately 15% during the first three months of 2026.
That amounts to roughly 450-500 employees for a company with over 3,000 employees globally.
What Playtika Told Employees About The Layoffs
Playtika included a copy of CEO Robert Antokol’s email to employees, which announced the decision, in its SEC filing.
Antokol explained in his email that the decision wasn’t made easily and represents a major change in how the company works. This change is intended to allow for future investment and maintain their position as a top competitor in the fast-paced mobile gaming industry.
Antokol explained that for a long time, they approached growth the same way across all their games, allocating resources similarly. However, he noted that the gaming industry’s financial landscape has changed.
He warned that without a change in direction, the company wouldn’t be able to fund future growth and innovation.
According to Antokol, Playtika is shifting its focus from relying on a large workforce to using smaller, more efficient teams that are driven by artificial intelligence and automated processes.
So, Playtika just made some changes, and honestly, it sounds like they’re trying to make things right. They said this move will let them offer better jobs and pay to the people staying on board, which is good to hear. And for those of us who are unfortunately being let go, they’ve promised to treat everyone with respect and give us severance packages and help with the transition. It’s still tough news, but it’s good they’re at least trying to make it a little easier.
Playtika recently laid off almost 500 employees and is now focusing on using AI and automation. What are your thoughts on these changes? Share your opinions below and join the conversation on the TopMob Discord server.
