Modern Warfare 3 player reveals Care Package’s “horrible” odds after opening 1,000 drops

As a long-time Call of Duty gamer, I’ve seen it all when it comes to Killstreak rewards, but the recent revelation about the Care Package drop rates in Modern Warfare 3 has left me feeling disappointed. After putting in over 1,000 attempts to earn this elusive reward, the data shared by user ‘Alex_Nares’ on Reddit painted a grim picture.

In Modern Warfare 3, the Care Package is a well-known Killstreak reward in Call of Duty. However, upon thorough examination by a player, the likelihood of this drop occurring seems less than desirable.

After utilizing the Care Package in MW3 a total of 1000 times, Reddit user ‘Alex_Nares’ disclosed the data on the game’s subreddit. In an organized table, they presented the number of occasions they obtained each Killstreak reward from the Care Package, along with the corresponding odds and probability percentage.

The data revealed that the SAM Turret yielded the most drops, approximately one in every nine attempts with a probability of around 10.60%. On the other hand, the Chopper Gunner and Gunship offered fewer drops with longer odds; each had a drop rate of only 0.80%.

In reaction to the issue, one person commented, “They’re hardly useful at all,” to which the original poster responded, “That might be true.”

On average, a Care Package from a Killstreak yields six kills. Obtaining the package requires five kills initially, thus resulting in one extra kill on average. Nevertheless, there’s always a risk that an adversary or even a teammate could snatch it away, diminishing its worth.

Considering this factor, the Care Package’s worth falls short of its usual six-kill return. As a result, opting for a Killstreak with a higher kill requirement becomes a more appealing choice.

Based on the analysis, some people suggest that the Care Package should have its drop rates slightly increased because they consider the Juggernaut’s drop chance of 1 in 500 to be extremely low.

Some people are disappointed that the option to reroll perks, which was present in past Call of Duty games, is absent: “It’s too bad there’s no way to reshuffle your Streaks.” The OP concurred and added that the reroll feature in earlier titles drew from a different pool with “more favorable chances.”

In the fifth season, we can anticipate an abundance of fresh material and adjustments. However, it’s extremely unlikely that the Care Package will undergo any significant modifications. Yet, as Black Ops 6 approaches, enthusiasts of this feature are keeping their fingers crossed for improved chances.
