Modern Warfare Remaster Mod H2M Gets “Leaked” After Cease & Desist

As a veteran gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say, the drama surrounding the H2M Mod for Modern Warfare Remastered has been quite the rollercoaster ride! It’s not every day that a long-anticipated mod gets shut down just hours before its release.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve stumbled upon some exciting news about a modernized version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, dubbed “H2M” (a combination of Modern Warfare and its predecessor, Call of Duty 2). However, it seems that this mod has been prematurely released following a Cease and Desist order from Activision.

Yesterday, Activision sent a legal notice demanding an immediate halt to the H2M-Mod project, which was due to launch shortly. On the Mod’s official Twitter account, the creators announced, “Our team has been ordered by Activision Publishing to stop the H2M-Mod project. We are complying with this order and will cease all operations effectively immediately and permanently.”

Yet, following the declaration that they would comply with the Cease & Desist order, the Mod files apparently surfaced on various Discord servers within a few hours. At the moment of this writing, approximately 800 individuals were reportedly playing the Mod, while thousands more are believed to have downloaded it.

The Call of Duty fanbase has justifiably criticized Activision due to their recent Cease & Desist order. After a successful week of marketing for H2M by its developers, Modern Warfare Remastered unexpectedly climbed to the top of Steam’s best-sellers list for several days in a row – a position it hadn’t held for almost eight years. This sudden success has sparked confusion among the community regarding why Activision issued the C&D so close to its release, given that the Mod had been under development for years.

7000 petitions have been gathered so far, aiming for a tranquil existence for the H2M Mod.
