Monster Hunter Wilds Datamine Uncovers Image About Wireless Local Multiplayer for Switch 2 – Rumor

Capcom has moved on to developing expansion content for Monster Hunter Wilds, but they may not be completely finished with the original game. Recent discoveries from data mining suggest Monster Hunter Wilds could be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. Although many hints about a Switch 2 version have been removed in game updates, Reddit user Lener30 noticed one image still remains, indicating a possible port.

The picture shows characters playing Monster Hunter Wilds on what appear to be Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. It’s not an official announcement, but it probably demonstrates the game’s local wireless multiplayer feature, allowing for quick cooperative play. We mainly see the characters’ hands, but at least one appears to be a hunter and another is a palico.

Rumors about a version of Monster Hunter Wilds for the next Nintendo Switch (often called the Switch 2) began in January. A data search related to an update for the game uncovered several mentions of the new console. Specifically, a line of code called “via.store.Native.nsw2UpgradeEdition” strongly suggested the Switch 2 – with “nsw2” likely being a shortened way to refer to it. The search also found text indicating the game could support playing with others locally.

Recent data analysis uncovered techniques to reduce graphical detail, probably implemented to boost performance on the next Nintendo Switch. The frequency of creatures appearing in the game world was also significantly reduced – to about one-fifth of what it is in other versions. These detail-reducing features were recently added to the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S versions of Monster Hunter Wilds in an update that also introduced the challenging Arch-tempered Arkveld and a new side quest connected to the story of the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection.

A new report suggests that Monster Hunter Wilds on the Nintendo Switch 2 will run at 30 frames per second using DLSS technology. When the console is docked, the game’s “Graphics Mode” will output at 1080p resolution. Surprisingly, the shadow quality in this mode appears to be better than the lowest settings (“Very Low”) on the PC version.

Recent discoveries suggest that Gogmazios and Zoh Shia could receive Tempered versions in Monster Hunter Wilds. While details are still scarce, these would likely be the most difficult monsters to fight in the game currently, excluding the Savage Omega Planetes coming in Title Update 3.

Monster Hunter Wilds is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Despite some technical problems, the game has been a success for Capcom, selling 11 million copies by the end of last year. Sales of Monster Hunter Rise and its Sunbreak expansion also increased, bringing the total number of games sold across the entire Monster Hunter franchise to over 33 million.
