Summary
- Monster Hunter Wilds lacks large monsters, leaving room for additions.
- Gammoth & Zamtrios won’t fit in Iceshard Cliffs, disappointing players.
- Players seek new icy area for monsters that don’t fit current maps. (63 characters)
Monster Hunter Wilds offers fewer large monsters compared to other modern Monster Hunter games when it first comes out. This might be disappointing because there isn’t much content right away, but on the positive side, it means that Capcom still has room to add popular monsters from the series at a later time.
Players eagerly anticipate the comeback of the legendary Bazelgeuse, and many other monsters have been brought up in conversations.
As time passes since the game’s release, players increasingly discover that several iconic monsters from the series are too large to accommodate within the smaller maps of Monster Hunter Wilds.
The Gammoth And Zamtrios Probably Won’t Fit In The Iceshard Cliffs, And Players Are Sad
Over on the Monster Hunter subreddit, players have been yearning for the return of the Gammoth, a monster whose only appearance has come in Monster Hunter Generations/Generations Ultimate.
One of the largest Fanged Beasts in series history, the Gammoth is a huge, female wooly mammoth-esque monster capable of whipping up icy vortexes. Having not appeared for so long, Wilds’ players were hoping that the creature would make a return this time around. However, they have slowly come to the realization that the only suitable map, Iceshard Cliffs, is probably too small for it.
Due to the immense size of the Gammoth and the tight, winding nature of the Iceshard Cliffs, it seems highly improbable that it can be represented on a map. This revelation has sparked dismay within the community.
“Yeah, it sucks; Gore Magala already feels awful fighting there due to the cramped space and fighting the camera; I think they dropped the ball with this region tbh, should have had some snowy plains sections,” Ritushido said.

After accepting that the Gammoth wouldn’t be suitable for the Iceshard Cliffs, the discussion moved onto another underutilized monster, the Zamtrios.
The Zamtrios is a creature that would result from the union of a shark, a narwhal, and a dragon in a unique offspring. This mythical beast inhabits icy terrains much like other legendary creatures, and just like them, it’s been absent from Generations Ultimate. Predictably, players are eager to see its return. However, they fear that it may face the same challenges as the Gammoth.
Replying to the original post, TheTimorie spoke for everybody when they said, “To make it worse, Zamtrios doesn’t fit there either…”
It’s time for Capcom to introduce a new giant ice area in a future update.
