Monster Hunter Wilds: Sturdy Bone Farming Guide

As a dedicated Monster Hunter Wilds enthusiast, I’ve discovered numerous methods to enhance my weapons. One primary upgrade path for every weapon in this game is the Bone series. Following the initial Bone weapon, there are several routes to further upgrade, one being the fundamental Bone upgrade that simply boosts the original weapon’s base stats.

For your second-level Bone weapon, there are additional trees to progress and it’s an excellent upgrade if you have the necessary resources. One of these resources is usually Sturdy Bone, which can be found quite readily if you know the right spots. Here’s a simple guide on how to efficiently farm as much as you require.

Where To Farm Sturdy Bone In Monster Hunter Wilds

A Strong Bone could potentially be dislodged each time you plunder a Bonepile. These Bonepiles are marked on the map by a yellow monster symbol with a question mark, and they’re typically situated near significant monster lairs in any area. The Oilwell Basin region is where you’ll find Sturdy Bones most consistently, but they can also be found in decent quantities in the Windward Planes and Forest.

As a dedicated adventurer, I can confidently say that once I’ve tagged a Bonepile on my map, it remains in its exact spot. Every time I return to that location, I’ll find the Bonepile right where I left it.

If you plunder Boneheaps in the initial zones, you’ll encounter Mysterious Bones more frequently, which are essential for crafting fundamental Bone weapons that will later be enhanced with Strong Bones. Additionally, Boneheaps often contain several lootable items, so after pressing the button to gather one item, it’s advisable to wait a moment before gathering another item from the same heap. The most straightforward method to locate monster lairs containing one or two Boneheaps is by embarking on an Optional Quest targeting any monster you prefer, as all monsters have their nests. Trustworthy locations for finding Boneheaps include:

  • Area 3 & the path leading to Area 7 of Oilwell Basin.
  • Area 1 & 9 of the Windward Planes.
  • Areas 4 & 6 of the Forest.

How Often Do Bonepiles Respawn In Monster Hunter Wilds

No matter where you find a Bonepile, it will take approximately 15 minutes in real-time for it to refill its loot. To see how much time is left until a specific Bonepile refills, simply hover over its icon on the map to view the countdown. The loot obtained from past Bonepiles has no impact on the current loot, as the chances remain consistent based on your location. Once a Bonepile appears on the map, you can climb aboard your Seikret and use it to mark the location for your bird companion to automatically navigate you there.
