Monster Hunter Wilds Unannounced Returning Monsters Spotted In Datamine Of Beta

As a seasoned Monster Hunter veteran with over a decade of slaying under my belt, I can’t help but feel a thrill at the prospect of these datamined monsters making a comeback in Monster Hunter Wilds. The return of Gravios, Gypceros, Nerscylla, and the ever-menacing Gore Magala has me buzzing like a Jagras on caffeine!

In every Monster Hunter title, apart from the varied weapons, players eagerly anticipate the monsters they’ll encounter. These creatures are a significant draw, as not only do new ones debut, but familiar faces from previous Monster Hunter series reappear. However, Capcom doesn’t always resurrect all the monsters in their arsenal for each new Monster Hunter game, which adds an element of surprise to each fresh installment of the franchise.

Although Capcom has disclosed multiple monsters that gamers can expect to battle in Monster Hunter Rise, it appears that certain previously unconfirmed monsters making a comeback may have been leaked through a data mining of the Monster Hunter Rise beta, which started on PS5 today.

Returning Monsters in Monsters Hunter Wilds Unearthed By Datamine

According to the information leaked (on Reddit), each monster in the game has been given a unique identification number. This number appears in every record about the monster across the series. Using this data, it can be confirmed that these particular monsters are included in Monster Hunter Wilds’ database – at least in the beta version.

  • 0005 Gravios (Monster Hunter 1, not seen since MHGU)
  • 0009 Gypceros (Monster Hunter 1, not seen since MHGU)
  • 0070 Nerscylla (Monster Hunter 4, not seen since MHGU)
  • 0071 Gore Magala (Monster Hunter 4, previously appeared in MHRise: Sunbreak)

Although these creatures have been found within the game’s data, it hasn’t been definitively proven yet that they will appear in-game. There’s a possibility, albeit slim, that the remaining ID codes could originate from monsters initially intended for the game, but subsequently removed by developers during development.

It’s quite likely we might encounter those monsters in the game, considering datamines are generally trustworthy sources of information extracted from the game’s code. Given that Monster Hunter Rise is still in development, it’s plausible that Capcom could reveal a sneak peek of the unfinished version as a trial section, which would suggest that the monsters discovered during this beta are intended for the final release of the game.

If you don’t own a PS5 yet, the beta version will be accessible within a short period of time, and the schedule for it can be found below.
