Moon Studio Announces It Is Now Self-Publishing No Rest For The Wicked

Moon Studios, known for developing the highly praised Ori series and the latest early-access game No Rest for the Wicked, is now self-publishing its projects entirely, following their acquisition of the publishing rights for the upcoming title.

No Rest for the Wicked, similar to Diablo, is an action role-playing game that was initially unveiled in December 2023. It was launched in April 2024 on Steam as a preliminary version.

Originally, the plan was for this game to be released through Private Division, a publishing subsidiary owned by Take-Two, which specializes in smaller independent games. However, there was a slight shift last year when Take-Two Interactive disclosed they were selling Private Division to an undisclosed buyer. It was then made known that the newly acquired Private Division would be managed by former Annapurna Interactive employees.

As a dedicated admirer, I can share that, as per Take-Two’s announcement, the sale encompassed the rights to all past and current titles under Private Division’s publication umbrella. Yet, for unknown reasons, they chose to exclude No Rest for the Wicked from this transaction. However, they made a commitment to keep its development ongoing.

Ever since that time, I’ve been eagerly waiting, and finally, Moon Studios has taken over the complete publishing rights to No Rest for the Wicked from Take-Two. This exciting news was shared during a fresh trailer revealing our upcoming major update – none other than The Breach!

Moon Studios expresses faith that this adjustment enables them to “carry out our creative vision unrestricted.” In the latest trailer, Thomas Mahler, director of No Rest for the Wicked, mentioned, “This change allows us to fully realize our creative vision.

Trusting that this strengthens your faith in our aspirations, as we have the freedom to shape ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ according to our desires, without any need for another pause in communication.

The Breach Expands The World of No Rest For The Wicked

The upcoming expansion, “The Breach,” scheduled for release on April 30 this year, introduces fresh territories, factions, adversaries, bosses, weaponry, hidden treasures, and much more. This major update promises to be our largest yet, effectively doubling the game’s world and deepening the narrative and storyline.

In the next round, I’m thrilled to share that we’re diving deep into developing a long-awaited feature – cooperative gameplay! Moon Studios has got some exciting news; we’re working on enhancing our multiplayer experience to accommodate up to four heroes in the world of “Celeste”. Can’t wait for you all to join me and friends in this epic adventure!

Moreover, it has been revealed that fresh compositions from Gareth Coker, who is known as the original composer of the Ori series, are set to be integrated into No Rest for the Wicked in this upcoming update. In his own words, Gareth Coker stated:

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been diligently creating a remarkable soundtrack tailored for No Rest for the Wicked, encompassing the narrative, characters, settings, and even the boss battles. Additionally, there will be ambient music added to enhance the immersive experience as you roam through the world. I can hardly wait to embark on this adventure with you once more!

In the days ahead, the ultimate edition of “No Rest for the Wicked” is slated for launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you’re eager to get a head start, grab the early-access version at a 30% discount on Steam immediately!
