More information has surfaced about a possible remake of *Halo: Combat Evolved*, suggesting it will include modernized movement and combat options. While Microsoft hasn’t officially announced a remake, a trusted source claims one is in development and will differ from the original game.
As a huge Halo fan, I was so excited to hear the rumors about a remake of the original game starting in early 2024! They’re saying it might come out around 2026, which feels like a long wait, but totally worth it. The first Halo was a game-changer – it really put the Xbox on the map back in 2001. It’s amazing to think about how much the franchise has grown since then, with six main games, a bunch of spin-offs, and even a TV show on Paramount+. I can’t wait to experience that first adventure again with a modern update!
Halo Remake Reportedly Updates Gameplay
A recent Twitter post from Halo Leaks suggests the upcoming game is being developed with updated gameplay. While details are limited, fans can expect the addition of sprinting, a feature not originally available in the first three *Halo* games but first introduced in *Halo Reach* (2010). The same gameplay style is also reportedly being planned for a new *Halo* multiplayer game, currently known as Project Ekur, which Halo Leaks believes will actually be the multiplayer portion of *Halo 7*.
There’s been talk that a separate multiplayer game for *Halo* might be in development, but it’s still just a rumor. In July, Rebs Gaming reported that the *Halo: Combat Evolved* remake might not include multiplayer, based on conversations with two sources involved in *Halo* game development. Both sources claimed they had no knowledge of any multiplayer plans. Rebs Gaming also suggested in early October that the game could potentially include a sprint feature.

For a while, Halo fans have only gotten information about future games through leaks and speculation. However, that might change soon! During the Halo World Championships on October 24th, the developers plan to share updates on projects they’re working on. While we don’t know for sure if they’ll talk about the remake or the new multiplayer game, both have been popular topics among fans, so it’s likely they’ll mention them.
