Tamriel Rebuilt is truly an incredible mod for The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. For over twenty years, the project has been dedicated to creating the parts of Morrowind that the original developers didn’t finish. They recently launched their ninth major expansion, Grasping Fortune, and are now working on their tenth, called Poison Song.
This is a major update, and while all updates are significant, this one is special. With the ‘Poison Song’ release, players can finally achieve something the Elder Scrolls Online community has wanted for over twenty years: the ability to join House Indoril.
This statement might sound incredibly exciting, or it might not make any sense at all, depending on your perspective. Let me explain what I mean.
The original Morrowind game allowed you to join one of three major factions, called Houses. These Houses generally aligned with classic RPG playstyles: Hlaalu was a merchant-focused group friendly to the Empire, Redoran emphasized combat and tradition, and Telvanni were eccentric, powerful wizards who lived in giant mushrooms.
This update notably adds House Indoril, the family of the famous Indoril Nerevar, and House Dres, known for their extreme support of slavery – even more so than the Telvanni. With the ‘Poison Song’ expansion, players can finally join Nerevar’s house, which is significant because much of the main story in Morrowind centers around the player being considered his reincarnation.
What truly sets Tamriel Rebuilt apart is its excellent writing. The project strives to recreate Morrowind as Bethesda did in the early 2000s—rich with detailed lore and imaginative mythology. I’m confident joining House Indoril in Poison Song will feel consistent with the overall game experience. After 23 years, the world of Morrowind continues to expand.
As a huge fan, I’m thrilled to hear from the team at Tamriel Rebuilt that everything is moving along nicely! They say they’re on track to finish the expansion in just a few months, and honestly, I can barely contain my excitement!
