It looks like NetherRealm Studios might be ready to move on from Mortal Kombat 1.
As a thrilled gamer, I can’t help but share the excitement as the developer unveils Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition, dropping today! This epic collection includes the original Mortal Kombat 1 game and every single DLC character that was released, plus some juicy additional content. Can’t wait to dive in!
This update offers not just the two Kombat Packs but also an early access to Havik (originally a pre-order bonus), immediate playability for him instead of having to unlock him. Additionally, it provides a variety of character skins inspired by the latest Mortal Kombat film and its upcoming sequel. The Switch version will be priced at $60, while other platforms will cost $70.
What’s In The Definitive Edition?

The characters you can play in Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition are listed on its Steam page, but let me tell you who they are: They include all the characters from both Kombat Packs, so you’ll get Noob Saibot, Cyrax, Sektor, Ghostface (from Scream), Terminator 2’s T-1000, Conan the Barbarian, Invincible’s Omni-Man, Quan Chi, Peacemaker (DC Comics character), Ermac, Homelander (The Boys), and Takeda Takahashi. Additionally, you’ll find Shang Tsung and Havik on the roster as well.
As an ardent fan, I’m excited to share that acquiring the Kombat Packs grants me access to a stellar lineup of Kameo fighters, including Madam Bo, Tremor, Khameleon, Janet Cage, Mavado, and Ferra. Plus, it unlocks every other fighter within the game – talk about value for money!
This package comes with additional content such as the Khaos Reigns story expansion, character skins for Shao Khan, Kitana, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Johnny Cage inspired by recent and upcoming films, an exclusive Johnny Cage skin modeled after Jean-Claude Van Damme, along with bonus skins for Liu Kang from Khaos Reigns and the Tournament that were available for pre-orders.
Individuals opting for this version can expect an additional perk – 1250 Dragon Krystals.
This new Mortal Kombat 1 version seems very much like the Ultimate Edition of Mortal Kombat 11, as both came with all additional characters and might have marked the conclusion of official updates and support for those games a few months afterward. Therefore, it’s possible that NetherRealm Studios has shifted their focus to another project already, or will do so soon.
In other words, it seems extremely improbable that we’ll get any additional DLC characters at this point, so fans are left guessing and wondering what might happen in the series next.
