As a long-time fan of the Mortal Kombat series, I’ve been following the developments surrounding the upcoming DLC for Mortal Kombat 1 with bated breath. The leaks about new story content featuring Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot have certainly piqued my interest, especially since their last appearance in the franchise was in Mortal Kombat X. The potential return of these iconic characters is a welcome addition for me, and I’m excited to see how their story unfolds.
Before the San Diego Comic Convention begins in a few days, there have been leaked details about the first story expansion for Mortal Kombat 1. These leaks include a supposed trailer that will be released during the event. Although the authenticity of this information is uncertain, it offers hints about the upcoming DLC for Mortal Kombat 1 before its formal unveiling.
In simpler terms, “Mortal Kombat 1” is the follow-up to “Mortal Kombat 11,” released in 2019. The story unfolds after Liu Kang’s conclusion in the “Aftermath” expansion, where he altered time using Kronika’s Hourglass. Despite this new timeline, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and their cohorts continue to pose a threat to Earthrealm and its fighters, similar to past “Mortal Kombat” installments. NetherRealm Studios has yet to announce additional content to progress the narrative beyond “Mortal Kombat 1,” but fans anticipate an expansion that will carry on Liu Kang’s journey and those of his allies, as was the case with the “Aftermath” DLC for “Mortal Kombat 11.”
An individual with inside knowledge of “Mortal Kombat 1,” who had correctly shared information about job cuts affecting NetherRealm’s mobile team prior to an official announcement, has disclosed details about the upcoming expansion for this game. Based on these leaks, the “Mortal Kombat 1” DLC is said to include a standalone storyline with five chapters focused on Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot. The story mode of this expansion reportedly adds three new stages, but does not feature dedicated fatalities. The rumored launch date for the first part of the “Mortal Kombat 1” DLC story is September of next year, with a trailer set to debut during the San Diego Comic Convention coming up soon.
Tag Team May Never Reach Mortal Kombat 1
As a dedicated Mortal Kombat gamer, I’m excited about the upcoming DLC for Mortal Kombat 1. However, recent leaks have raised concerns. Some game modes might not be included with this release and there are whispers that they could be canceled entirely. This has left fans, including me, worried that our beloved tag team mode from previous games may be missing in action. Additionally, rumors suggest that Mileena could undergo some sort of transformation, but the details remain a mystery.
In addition to the upcoming expansion story, fans are excitedly looking forward to the arrival of Takeda Takahashi and Mortal Kombat 1’s last Kameo character, Ferra. These two characters will be introduced into the game on July 23, signifying the conclusion of Mortal Kombat 1’s initial Kombat Pass.
