Takeda Takahashi is joining “Mortal Kombat 1” on July 23, marking his second major role in the game series since “Mortal Kombat X.” Originally the son of the blind swordsman Kenshi, Takeda became a member of Scorpion’s Shirai Ryu clan and combined ninja techniques with contemporary technology. In “Mortal Kombat 1,” Takeda’s backstory undergoes an update, while his expertise in the Shirai Ryu martial arts and whip weapons remains largely intact. During a recent KombatKast livestream, Takeda’s skills were highlighted; however, NetherRealm Studios had one more surprise for viewers: a brief demonstration of Takeda facing off against Sub-Zero, who donned a new costume.

In this film portrayal, Sub-Zero wore a black jumpsuit with blue padding and an imposing mask. The ice ninja character didn’t say much in the original movie, but this skin incorporates the same lines as the base game’s Sub-Zero/Bi-Han. Although KombatKast did not explicitly mention it, there’s a strong possibility that this skin will be introduced in the upcoming balance update for “Mortal Kombat 1” on July 23 or at a later date.
