Mortal Kombat 3 In The Works at Warner Bros

The screenwriter has confirmed that Warner Bros. and New Line are moving forward with a new Mortal Kombat 3 movie.

The Mortal Kombat movies are relatively recent, beginning with the first film in 2021. While the next installment, Mortal Kombat II, is still being made and won’t be released until May 15th, 2026, the strong positive reaction to its intense trailer has already led to plans for another movie after that one.

At New York Comic-Con, Jeremy Slater, who wrote the screenplay for Mortal Kombat II, revealed that a third Mortal Kombat movie is officially being developed. According to Deadline, New Line and Warner Bros. are once again partnering to produce and distribute the film. While the sequel hasn’t been released yet, details about the story or who will star in it are still unknown. The film is currently being written, so a release date hasn’t been set.

During the Mortal Kombat II panel at Comic-Con, alongside cast members like Karl Urban and Tati Gabrielle, Jeremy Slater announced that a third installment was in development while discussing the current series.

Christian Slater says New Line and Warner Bros. are thrilled with the film and believe there’s a huge audience eager for more. Because of this, they’ve already asked him to begin working on a sequel to Mortal Kombat.

The fact that a third Mortal Kombat movie is being planned before the second one is released is a positive sign. Although the release date has been pushed back from October 2025 to May 2026, Warner Bros. appears pleased with the project and willing to continue the series. Given the success of the first Mortal Kombat film, this could mean a renewed future for the franchise on the big screen.
