A talented fan of *Red Dead Redemption 2* has created a mod that brings the world of *Mortal Kombat* into the Western game, and the result is surprisingly funny and impressive. *Red Dead Redemption 2* is usually a serious and gritty experience, so seeing it combined with *Mortal Kombat*’s style is a really unexpected, but fun, change.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a massive game with endless things to discover, and players are constantly finding new surprises. It’s also incredibly popular with modders, who have enhanced everything from the game’s graphics to its core mechanics, sometimes dramatically.
Red Dead Redemption 2 and Mortal Kombat Collide
Content creator Blurbs recently built a fun mod for *Red Dead Redemption 2* based on a fan suggestion: turning it into a *Mortal Kombatstyle fighting game. The mod changes the camera to a side view whenever characters get into a fistfight, just like the classic *Mortal Kombat* games. Blurbs also added health bars, sound effects, combos, and even finishing moves called Fatalities. In his version, a train appears to run over opponents when Arthur performs a Fatality. Blurbs documented the process of creating and testing the mod, showcasing both the impressive results – like realistic blood and gore – and humorous glitches, such as Arthur being accidentally hit by his own train.
Blurbs hasn’t released the mod that allowed him to combine elements of *Red Dead Redemption 2* and *Mortal Kombat*, meaning players can’t create their own fighting game-style battles within the Wild West. But if you enjoyed this unusual creation, he’s planning to make more strange and funny mods for *Grand Theft Auto 5*, and he’ll be taking suggestions from his fans. Previously, Blurbs also made a popular *Red Dead Redemption 2* mod that gave NPCs backstories and flashbacks, letting his community write the dialogue for some hilarious scenes.
Although it’s highly unlikely Arthur Morgan will ever appear in a real *Mortal Kombat* game, this fan-made content gives us a glimpse of what it could look like. Many fans would enjoy seeing Arthur Morgan as a playable character and discovering his fighting potential. However, some might be hesitant about seeing him subjected to *Mortal Kombat*’s famously brutal attacks, like being torn apart, as it could clash with his character.
