Amidst this fantasy landscape, I cross paths with a remarkable girl named Jess, on the verge of embarking upon a perilous journey. The odds are against her, but who knows? Perhaps as a humble swine, I might lend a helpful hoof along the way.

Initially, Butareba’s debut episode left me less than impressed, but as the story unfolds, it presents some thought-provoking concepts that pique my curiosity.

9. Napolean

School Rumble

In the animated series, School Rumble, Napoleon, Harima’s pet pig, is arguably the most adorable character. Puchi persuades Tsukasa to look after her piglet Grunty while she goes on a trip, and Tsukasa soon discovers that the animal is unwell. In response, Tsukasa embarks on a risky quest to find a remedy for its illness. Although Grunty didn’t receive the care it needed from its previous owner, at least Tsukasa aimed to provide the best possible treatment for it.

7. Bonnie

Bleach

Ganju Shiba’s pig companion, Bonnie from Bleach, should receive an honorary medal for her unsettling appearance. Her permanent scowl contrasts sharply with the red bow adorning her back, creating a unique look that has endeared her to the show’s fanbase so much that Bonnie is actually a playable character in both Bleach: The Blade of Fate and Bleach: Dark Souls for the Nintendo DS.

Hawk may not be overly complicated, but simplicity suits him well. It is rare to find such a bond between man and animal in the chaos of war, but Tonton’s selflessness and devotion are truly inspiring.

To me, animals like Tonton are a reminder of the unbreakable connection that can exist between species. In a world where trust is often hard to come by, it’s heartwarming to see such an animal who would go to such great lengths for its owner. I have seen the best and worst of humanity on the battlefield, but Tonton stands out as one of the most remarkable beings I have ever encountered.
