With the meteoric rise of the Isekai genre, one other genre also sees a dramatic increase in popularity—High Fantasy. This means we get an influx of stories with swords, magic, monsters, elves, dwarves, and, of course, demons as well.

Speaking of demons, this particular fantasy race has become a staple even outside of its own “fantasy” genre. From a King to a butler to a caretaker, it’s easy to find demon characters doing all sorts of things in various anime. For this article, we focus on one specific type of demons: the Demon Girls.

It turns out that the feared demon named Vermeil is not as terrifying as people might think. In reality, she is quite laid-back and friendly. Interestingly enough, she bears a striking resemblance to a regular human woman, but with an added allure. Despite possessing immense power, Vermeil spends most of her time playfully teasing Alto instead of engaging in the malevolent acts often linked to demons.

9. Demon Queen

The Kindhearted Supreme Ruler of the Demon Realm

When talking about somebody who holds the title of “Demon Queen”, you’d expect to see a terrifying woman with a short temper who wants to spread violence and conquer the world. Beyond just residing there, she chooses to blend in with the commonfolk, masking herself as a noblewoman. In this quaint village, the Demon Queen imparts her knowledge about farming and economics to its inhabitants. From teaching them how to accurately value and price their produce, to identifying which vegetables would thrive best within the village’s ecological conditions, she significantly boosts the village’s wealth. This is why they affectionately call her the Crimson Scholar.

On the surface, Rias Gremory looks like any other high schooler. That’s why most people simply know her as the beautiful red-haired president of the Occult Research Club at the Kuoh Academy. The truth, however, is a lot more interesting.

Rias Gremory is the youngest child of House Gremory, one of the most powerful, influential, and highest-ranking devil families. She became the heir of the Gremory clan after her brother took the position of Lucifer. Rias herself is known among the devils as the Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess due to her signature red hair and immense destructive power.

7. Derieri

A Member of the Elite Ten Commandments

Derieri is a member of the infamous Ten Commandments, a group of ten elite demon warriors handpicked by the Demon King himself. Compared to her quirky and eccentric groupmates, Derieri is actually quite calm and laidback.

In simpler terms, Derieri can become extremely angry and cause widespread damage until she eventually calms down on her own. She’s also skilled in close combat fights, even giving the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, Meliodas, a tough time matching her punching power.

She is strong enough to wipe out an entire battalion of highly trained human soldiers without breaking a sweat, and she doesn’t even need to use magic to do that.

Interestingly enough, Albedo has three distinct modes of personality. When she is doing her job as the Prime Minister and the Overseer of the Guardians, Albedo is a calm and professional politician. In the battlefield, she is a ruthless demon who won’t hesitate to demolish anything that dares to stand in her path. When she is around Ainz, however, she turns into a cute, lovedrunk succubus.

4. Esil Radiru

A Demon Noble of the Radiru Clan

Esil is the daughter and the heir to the Radiru Clan, the lowest-rank demon nobles in the Demon Realm. They are tasked to be the guardians of the Demon Castle’s lower levels. Fortunately for her, Sung Jinwoo not only spares her life, but he decides to take out the other noble houses, leaving the House of Radiru to be the de facto leader of the Demon Castle.

Despite being a demon noble, Esil is actually quite carefree and clumsy. But make no mistake, behind that innocent smile lies the battle-hardened skills of a veteran warrior. In terms of raw strength and combat prowess, Esil stands toe-to-toe with the elite S-Rank hunters.

3. Kishirika Kishirisu

The Fallen Empress of the Immortal Demon Clan

At first glance, Kishirika looks like a regular homeless girl with an attitude. While it’s true that she is homeless, and she certainly has a sassy attitude, Kishirika is far from a regular person. She is actually the Empress of the infamous Immortal Demon Clan.

Kishirika lost most of her strength and authority when the Immortal Demon Clan was defeated centuries ago. That’s why she is so helpless right now. However, that doesn’t mean Kishirika is weak. After all, she still has her legendary Demon Eye that can do everything from telescopic vision to seeing the future.

2. Nezuko Kamado

The Demon Girl Who Conquered the Sun

Unlike the other characters in this article who were born as demons, Nezuko was transformed into one by the progenitor of the demon race himself, Muzan Kibutsuji. However, unlike other demons who have no choice but to be loyal and afraid of their creator, Nezuko can somehow resist Muzan’s influence.

Not only that, Nezuko also manages to achieve something that not even Muzan can do, which is conquering the sun. You see, every demon will evaporate the instant the light of the sun touches their body, Muzan included. The only exception to this rule is Nezuko, which is why Muzan is desperate to capture her and snatch that power. Unfortunately for him, he has to face Tanjiro, the Hashiras, and the entire Demon Slayer Corps first.

She can also control other people’s blood if she is in direct contact with it. That being said, controlling other people’s blood is difficult, which is why she prefers to stick with her own blood.

As somebody who is still not used to living in the human world, Power can sometimes be ignorant and childish. She never listens to what other people say and prefers to do things her way. She would jump headfirst into danger and boast about her amazing power. However, when somebody stronger than her appears, she will retreat immediately and cower in fear. Power’s chaotic nature perfectly matched Denji’s unhinged behaviors, which is why they quickly became the wildest duo in Public Safety Devil Hunter.
