In the third installment of Invincible, it outdoes any graphic content presented in The Boys. The level of gore is so excessive this season that it borders on comical. How often can a character’s mouth explode or bones protrude? It can be quite intense, particularly when the character meets their demise for real.
In this current season, there weren’t many main characters who met their end, yet some came very close. The deceased characters ranged from shocking to heartrending. Given the use of time travel motifs and various dimensions, it’s challenging to determine if any character is permanently gone in this series; however, for now, these Invincible characters are laid to rest.
WARNING! Spoilers ahead.
6. Multi-Paul
Spaced Out
In the third season, a new character named Multi-Paul makes his debut. He enters the series’ first episode with an intention to kill Rex due to his belief that Rex is responsible for the death of Multi-Paul’s sister, Dupli-Kate. However, in a surprising twist, it’s revealed that Dupli-Kate is alive, something that brings relief to Multi-Paul. Despite this revelation, he remains imprisoned and, out of desperation, attempts an escape in episode five. This scene is particularly gruesome and stands out even among the graphic scenes presented in season three, which are already intense enough to surpass the levels seen in recent films like “Heart Eyes” or “Companion”.
In his prison cell, Multiple-Paul repeatedly creates copies of himself, hiding high up in the rafters. These replicas overlap, shattering bones since they can’t inhabit the same area simultaneously. Eventually, this collision forcefully opens the door, releasing a pile of what appears to be many bodies. Although Primary-Paul does not perish entirely, witnessing his clones being crushed and dying was incredibly terrifying.
5. Future Immortal
The King Is Dead

In various storylines, The Immortal has existed for countless centuries and has met his end numerous times. However, due to his immortality, it’s not surprising when he dies because of the comic and cartoon versions we’ve seen. Yet, what defies our expectations regarding his death occurs in season three, episode four.
Through some intriguing temporal maneuvers, Invincible journeys into the future to prevent a tyrant, who surprisingly is a darker version of The Immortal, from causing irreversible damage to Earth. This despondent being longs for death and offers little resistance. In the end, to save lives, Invincible reluctantly resorts to severing The Immortal’s head.
4. Knucklebuster And Forcefist
Headshot: Double Kill

Episode two introduces two secondary antagonists known as Knucklebuster and Forcefist. This episode holds significance as it showcases the ascension of Cecil within the forces tasked with safeguarding the U.S. and the world from both superheroes and supervillains. In a past operation, Cecil encounters Knucklebuster and Forcefist who developed a toxin capable of dissolving flesh.
As a devoted fan, I find myself reflecting on a heart-wrenching turn of events: our mission concluded tragically, claiming the lives of some blameless souls, while leaving Cecil forever marked. Despite this, his superior, Radcliffe, chose to redeem Knucklebuster and Forcefist, using them for his own purposes. Yet, Cecil couldn’t stomach this. In a desperate act, he ended their lives—a choice that ultimately sealed his fate in prison. Though not the most gruesome demises experienced by others, Knucklebuster and Forcefist became an emblem of Cecil’s unwavering principles.
3. Becky And Jack (Powerplex’s Wife And Son)
Caught In The Crossfire

Mark continues to grapple with the actions of his father, Nolan, at the end of season one, which caused extensive damage in Chicago. The third season delves into this past event during episode six, a memorial service that serves as a reminder of the destruction. It is also in this episode where Scott Duvall, a man who later becomes twisted following the deaths of his family members in Chicago, makes his first appearance on screen.
In a twisted bid for power and vengeance, I’ve resorted to pilfering cutting-edge technology, transforming myself into the menacing Powerplex. Desperate to confront Invincible, I’ve made multiple attempts to meet him, culminating in a daring scheme that would see me feign capture while Powerplex engaged Invincible. Alas, my plan unraveled disastrously when Powerplex malfunctioned, reducing my beloved wife, Becky, and our precious son, Jack, to nothing but ashen remains. The reality of their loss still haunts me.
2. The Mauler Twins
Two For The Price Of One

In every season, the cunning Mauler Twins make an appearance, even when foiled multiple times. Their intelligence consistently shines through, as they manage to rise again and again, despite setbacks such as clones failing or defeats. However, following episode three of this season, it seems the Maulers will not be getting back up anymore.
They’re currently on a run of victories, incapacitating superheroes attempting to foil their missile robbery using a weapon that immobilizes them. Not even Invincible can withstand a single shot from this cannon. When Oliver learns about his brother’s predicament on TV, he races to the scene without hesitation and unleashes his full might against these wicked twins. Oliver manages to pass through one of them while detonating the other’s head, even after the latter tries to surrender. The brutality is both terrifying and shocking, leaving even the superheroes aghast at this youngster’s lethal power.
1. Rex Splode
Goodbye To One Rude Dude

Fortunately, the most tragic death in season three isn’t overly gruesome. In a desperate bid to give his teammates time to escape, Rex sacrifices himself. Running out of ammunition against an invincible variant from the multiverse, Rex resorts to using his own bones as explosives for self-destruction.
The blast succeeds in taking the lives of both this doppelganger and Rex. Upon examining their hideout, all that remains of Rex is a shadowy outline on the wall, serving as a poignant reminder of those who perished during the bombings in Japan during World War II. Despite his challenging personality, Rex had a great sense of humor and always meant well. He will be sorely missed.
