In a new development, the beloved fantasy strategy RPG, Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, known for its captivating medieval combat, is set to explore the oceanic realm in its next expansion titled War Sails. This naval-focused expansion was recently unveiled during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase.
Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord Heads to the High Seas in War Sails Expansion
As a seasoned gamer, I’m excited to set sail in Mount & Blade for the first time ever, as War Sails brings naval combat to this epic franchise! Drawing inspiration from the fearsome Vikings, we’ll command 18 unique types of ships, engage in thrilling sea battles against foes, and establish our own maritime empire. The trailer promises grand-scale naval skirmishes and the chance to lead a colossal fleet, even boarding enemy vessels!
Just as we need to manage and upgrade our armies on land, so must we tend to our fleets, ensuring they’re well-equipped and supplied to prevent underperformance or worse – mutiny!
In Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, players start with a modest group of soldiers and gradually build it up into an unstoppable military force, capable of capturing even the strongest fortresses. As the game progresses, players can equip their army with siege weapons and horsemen. The role-playing aspect comes into play as players navigate relationships with various NPCs such as local nobles, merchants, and outlaws. The game features eight primary factions, each made up of distinct clans, beliefs, objectives, and outlying groups. In the War Sails trailer, you can spot the unique colors of these factions on soldiers and ships. A ninth faction, the Northern Kingdom’s Nords, will be introduced in War Sails. Additionally, a sophisticated stealth system and random events are planned to enhance the base game.
