Mountain Underground Facility Key Location in Code Vein II

In Code Vein 2, many areas contain dungeons and caves that you can’t reach right away – they become available as you advance the story. When you explore these areas, you’ll often find locked doors. The problem is, the key needed to open them isn’t usually nearby.

The Mountain Underground Facility offers a good example of what players can find. If you head to the right, you’ll discover a spacious room with a locked gate in the corner. Here’s a guide on how to unlock that gate and the rewards waiting behind it in Code Vein 2.

Where to Find the Mountain Underground Facility Key in Code Vein 2

When you arrive at the Mountain Underground Facility, west of Sunken City, you’ll find a room on the right with a revival stone outside. This might make you think a boss battle is about to start, but it isn’t – not yet, anyway. The room contains a locked door, and you’ll need to complete a few tasks before you can unlock it and proceed.

To start, you’ll need to advance the main storyline. Specifically, finish Josee’s storyline so you can speak with her during the 2187 Free Exploration. You can find her in the dining room, behind Valentin. When you talk to her, she’ll ask you to gather three different spices, each located in one of the game’s main regions.

Okay, so I found the first one in Sunken City, just northeast of the Sunken Pylon. You’ll want to head into this really wrecked building – it’s full of enemies, so be ready! Go up a floor or two, and on your left, you’ll see a glowing yellow item. That’s the Rich Spice, so grab it!

Revealing the map by destroying the jammers will help you explore the regions much more freely.

Once you finish Lyle’s storyline, you’ll be able to visit the Northern Watch Fort, which is north of Corroded Scar. You can find the second spice, Aromatic Spice, inside the fort, underneath a staircase.

Okay, so I finally figured out where to get the last spice! It’s in the Undead Forest, but you can’t just wander in. I had to finish Holly’s whole storyline first to unlock the area. Once I did that, I headed to the Withered Greenhouse – that’s where Holly’s Cocoon is now – and that’s where I found the Hot Spice. Finally! One step closer to finishing my collection.

After collecting all the spices, return to Josee. She’ll then attempt to cook dishes for you, but won’t be happy with the ingredients. To get her next request – exploring the Mountain Underground Facility – you’ll need to work with her.

Return to the room with the locked gate, where you’ll now fight the Spice Predator boss. Its attacks are generally easy to avoid, so you can focus on dodging rather than perfectly timing parries. Defeating the boss will give you the key you need to complete Josee’s request. Use the key to open the gate and you’ll find a chest containing a Plagueward Runeleaf.
