MSI May Have Revealed RTX 5070 Ti Release Date

Since their launch on January 31 this year, Nvidia’s RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 GPUs have been hard to come by, but a new GPU in the consumer market is set to be released later this month: the RTX 5070 Ti. This upcoming RTX 5070 Ti GPU will replace both the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 Ti SUPER models, maintaining the same price point as the Founder’s Edition, despite the fact that AIB versions may cost more if we consider its higher-end siblings.

The Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti offers an appealing balance between performance and cost compared to the RTX 5080 and 5090, thanks to its more affordable $749 price tag while utilizing a scaled-down Blackwell GB203 GPU (similar to the previous models), built on TSMC’s 4N FinFET process. Nvidia has announced that we can expect the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti by February 2025, but a specific release date has not been officially disclosed yet.

MSI’s Accidental Confirmation of The Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti

It appears that MSI may have accidentally revealed the launch date for Nvidia’s third most potent GeForce RTX GPU, as a countdown timer on their French website suggested a February 20th release date. This information was spotted by WCCFTech, but the link has since been removed. However, other French retailers have corroborated this launch date, indicating that the new GPU could be available to consumers within a week. This development might help ease demand for Nvidia’s most powerful and second-to-last GPU offerings currently in the market.

It’s noteworthy that the RTX 5070, which was supposedly due in February 2025 according to Nvidia’s announcement, doesn’t seem to be mentioned anywhere. This could suggest a later release date, possibly towards the end of the month. The RTX 5070 is anticipated to sell for $549 (Founder’s Edition) and AIB versions are expected to cost more due to decreasing margins being given to partners for Nvidia GPUs. This could lead to a significant increase in MSRP for overclocked or customized variants.

The RTX 5070 Ti: The No-Brainer 4K Purchase This Generation?

In the previous generation, many gamers opted for the RTX 4070 Ti over the RTX 4080 due to a significant price difference ($800 vs $1200). It’s likely that the RTX 5070 Ti could also become a preferred choice among consumers. The release of the RTX 4080 SUPER narrowed the gap when it was priced at $1000, and the RTX 5080 appears to be following a similar pricing strategy. This means that the savings on the RTX 5080 will be smaller (25%) compared to last generation’s 50%.

On top of that, the RTX 5070 Ti boasts additional advantages. For one, it includes 16GB of GDDR7 RAM, which is a 33% increase compared to its previous generation (except for the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER). Remarkably, this memory is only slightly slower than that found in the RTX 5080. Moreover, it shares similar clock speeds, although the GPU die on the former is slightly smaller.

With the AIB premium applied to all users who aren’t choosing the Founder’s Edition SKU this time, it becomes a significantly more attractive choice price-wise compared to performance. Whether the RTX 5070 Ti will be the top 4K gaming GPU in 2025 remains uncertain as we anticipate further benchmark results.
