Wheels of Duty is a free-to-play first-person shooter now available on Steam. It’s received very positive reviews since officially launching after a period in early access. While many new shooters are released on Steam each month, Wheels of Duty could gain popularity simply because it’s free to play.
While Wheels of Duty isn’t the only free-to-play shooter on Steam – classics like Counter-Strike are still hugely popular – it offers a lighthearted and funny alternative for players who want a break from more serious games. It’s a small indie title that might just provide some much-needed comical relief.
Wheels of Duty Is a Funny PvP FPS with Interesting Game Modes
The Steam page for Wheels of Duty says it features several player-versus-player (PvP) modes, like Team Deathmatch and Free for All – modes many first-person shooter fans will recognize. The game has been in development since 2022, allowing the creator, Leo Waters, to refine the gameplay and core features. Right now, Wheels of Duty has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, although it hasn’t received many reviews yet – currently under 200.
Okay, so I’ve been playing Wheels of Duty, and honestly, it’s a really good pick-up-and-play FPS. The best part? It doesn’t need a super powerful PC to run – I was able to play it smoothly on my older laptop. Plus, the controls and gameplay are pretty straightforward, so you don’t have to spend ages learning complicated stuff. It’s awesome because you don’t need to drop a ton of cash or dedicate your life to it to have fun. The whole idea is you’re in a wheelchair, blasting enemies, and you can even customize your ride to make it look totally unique!
Keep in mind that Wheels of Duty is a small, experimental indie game, so don’t expect a flawless experience. It’s enjoyable to play, but like many games of this size, it has some bugs and glitches. The online community isn’t huge, so playing with friends is best. Luckily, the game includes bots to help fill out matches, which is useful given its smaller player base and that it’s not yet widely known.
Fans can further support the developers of Wheels of Duty by purchasing DLC packs. These packs, which cost about $11 USD in total, add new characters and unlock Survival Mode. This mode features several player-versus-environment challenges, including a zombie-fighting experience inspired by the popular Zombies mode in Call of Duty.
