MultiVersus Trailer Reveals Beetlejuice Gameplay & August Release Date

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for the eccentric and a soft spot for the macabre, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming addition of Beetlejuice to the MultiVersus roster! The Assassin class fighter’s thematic abilities, such as falling into a coffin or transforming hands into a weapon, promise an exhilarating gaming experience that perfectly encapsulates the character’s quirky charm.

Today, Player First Games unveiled fresh gameplay for MultiVersus, introducing characters like Beetlejuice. Excitingly, he’s set to become playable from August 20, 2024.

The trailer showcases some of Beetlejuice’s kit as an Assassin class fighter, an archetype that only offers a few other characters like Arya Stark and Marvin the Martian. It also reveals new voice lines, interactions, and potential cosmetics.

The new trailer closes with a brief nod to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the upcoming movie sequel. Director Tim Burton returns for the film, which premieres in early September this year.

Today’s news about the upcoming release in August comes hot on the heels of rumors by leaker AusilMV, who suggested that Beetlejuice might join MultiVersus relatively quickly.

The new findings seem to corroborate AusilMV’s earlier leaks from May 2024, hinting at additional characters and levels. They assert that they discovered these extra elements by mining the game for data.

Beetlejuice’s arsenal showcases a range of thematically appropriate skills, such as diving into a coffin or converting hands into a weapon. Among these abilities, the most striking is the inclusion of the sandworm, which is distinctive enough to be incorporated in the merchandise for the upcoming film, even in popcorn buckets.

Towards the end of July, it was formally announced that Player First Games, the creators of MultiVersus, were purchased by Warner Bros. Games. The co-founder of Player First Games, Tony Huynh, stated that “being our development team merged with the publisher is ideal for the players.”
