MultiVersus Update Adds Fan-Requested Feature

MultiVersus Update Adds Fan-Requested Feature

Key Takeaways

  • MultiVersus finally allows players to use any character in local modes, addressing fan complaints.
  • Changes in the patch include a newer balance match-making system and character buffs/nerfs.
  • The patch also fixes bugs, improves combos, and adds new characters like Samurai Jack to keep fans engaged.

As a long-time gamer who’s seen more than a few patches and updates over the years, I must say this update for our beloved game is quite impressive! The attention to detail in fine-tuning each character’s moveset and fixing minor yet noticeable issues really speaks volumes about the dedication of the development team.

In a highly anticipated update, MultiVersus now allows players to choose any character when playing local game modes. Since its debut in May 2024, this popular title has been consistently evolving, introducing fresh characters and enhancements to keep fans engaged.

Before diving into MultiVersus, I was surprised to discover that I couldn’t play any character locally at launch, despite having the option during beta testing. This left many of us clamoring for the full roster to be brought back, especially when it seemed like Warner Bros. might be using this tactic to encourage purchases of our favorite characters. Sadly, such a move is unfortunately common in free-to-play games that rely on microtransactions as their primary source of income.

In the latest August 29 update, I’m thrilled to say that MultiVersus re-introduced a long-awaited feature. They’ve also made some tweaks to enhance my gaming experience, such as implementing a fairness measure in their new Ranked mode where players with multiple ranking tiers apart won’t be pitted against each other. This update also boosts the ground bounce combos in MultiVersus, making for more exciting juggling combinations and a more refined gameplay overall.

Beyond the overall adjustments in the update, several characters received tweaks, such as enhancements (buffs), reductions (nerfs), and bug fixes; notably, Beetlejuice and Agent Smith. Beetlejuice, an effective Assassin in MultiVersus, has been significantly boosted by the developers, with damage increases and scaling enhancements to his knockback, suggesting they want players to fully utilize the new character. On the other hand, Agent Smith’s animations and windows have been optimized, while Morty’s Air Side Attack 1 was reverted back to its previous state as it was before Patch 1.2.0, ensuring a more consistent move.

Discussing characters, MultiVersus has introduced Samurai Jack from Cartoon Network in its latest update. Given that it boasts approximately 30 characters spanning various Warner Bros. intellectual properties, it’s no surprise that fans are eager to experiment with as many as they can. Making all characters available for free play in local modes is a smart move to keep players engaged and potentially persuade them to invest money or dedicate time to acquire their preferred characters for online multiplayer.
